Most Anticipated Fall Movies 2019

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Whether you’re a comic book/action geek like me, or someone who’s into drama, horror, thrillers or Disney animations, this year’s 2019 fall movie lineup will not disappoint!

Here’s our list of the most anticipated fall movies 2019.

IT Chapter 2

Our first fall movie preview is an oldie, but not just any old oldie, the follow up to the highest earning horror movie of all time… IT!!! For any of you lucky ones who got to see the original starring the late great Tim Curry in the movie theater back in 1990, this was the movie that annihilated our love for clowns! Just when you thought the idea of bringing a remake of the original couldn’t get any more frightening, think again.  The studio’s idea of bringing young Bill Skarsgard to play the part of the infamous Pennywise was genius, because the horrific life he pumped into the character with that devilish stare and grin was too much to take! In “IT Chapter 2”, members of the Losers Club are all grown up & back in their little town of Derry to end the final chapter, and the all-star cast playing playing the parts of Beverly, Bill, Richie, Mike, Ben and Stanley is top notch!

IT Chapter 2 is set to release on Friday September 6th, 2019 in theaters across the country.

The Goldfinch

Our next movie preview is The Goldfinch starring Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman. The Goldfinch is partly about a 1654 oil painting of a goldfinch chained to what looks like a wooden sconce. But what’s the significance you ask? The painting itself is displayed at the Metropolitan museum where a bomb explodes and kills the mother of the boy who not only makes off with the painting but narrates the entire film. The goldfinch is his mother’s favorite painting, which makes sense of why he took the painting in the first place, but that’s not all and this is where it gets interesting…he doesn’t take the painting for the reasons we all think and his decision sends his life in a fantastic series of events!

The Goldfinch is set for release at theaters around the country Friday September 13th, 2019.

Hustlers

Although the synopsis of this film can be a bit risque, what makes the story interesting is its inspiration.  On December 28th, 2015 a journalist by the name of Jessica Pressler wrote an article titled “The Hustlers At Scores.” The article began with “Here’s a modern Robin Hood story for you,” which focused on how a group of exotic dancers turned Wallstreet on its ear (so to speak.) Although the names have been changed to protect the innocent, the story revolves around Roselyn (Rosie) Keo and her boss and mentor Samantha Foxx (Jennifer Lopez) who puts the whole scheme together.

Hustlers is set to hit theaters around the country Friday September 13th, 2019.

Downtown Abbey

Based on the academy award winning television series of the same name, which ran from 2010 until 2015, Downtown Abbey revolves around the Crowley Family and their servants between 1912 and 1926.  The show’s finale aired Sunday December 25th, 2015 with a confirmed viewership of over 9.6 million viewers! The series’ finale was so big on social media, Twitter saw over 66,000 tweets that Sunday night.  The film itself, which was first considered five months subsequent to the show’s finale, is actually a continuation to the uber popular television show, taking place in 1927. The feature film includes a visit from King George V and Queen Mary.

Downtown Abbey is set to hit theaters around the country Friday September 20th, 2019.

Joker

For my fellow comic book geeks and those so ever interested in the origin of one of or (dare I say) comic book’s greatest villain, I present Arthur, or is it Jack Napier or maybe (just maybe) Arthur Fleck, but most definitely Joaquin Phoenix as JOKER. It was before my time, Spring 1940 when we were introduced to Batman’s arch nemesis The Joker. Although his name was splashed around television shows and movies, his real name was never mentioned in comic books. All we really know of this character is that he was once an engineer turned comedian. Although his shift from full time gig to satire didn’t go so well, he had the support of his dear pregnant wife who died while giving birth during a robbery he was a part of at the chemical company he used to work at. It was after falling into a vad of chemicals that permanently scarred his face and body, and hearing of the passing of both his dearly beloved & child, that he lost his marbles and blamed the whole thing on the bat who foiled the caper. There has never been a more violent villain who continuously pushed the envelope than The Joker in comic books. Phoenix has some big shoes to fill, especially after seeing the character played by Nicholson and Ledger. As for me, I’m looking forward to seeing Joaquin Phoenix (As Joker would say…) “introduce a little anarchy”.

Joker is slated to hit theaters around the country Friday October 4th, 2019.

Maleficent: Mistress of Evil

Growing up I always saw or recognized this character as the evil fairy godmother in Sleeping Beauty, but then I saw the 2014 live-action film Maleficent played by academy award winning actress Angelina Jolie. As someone who has an affinity with misunderstood characters like DC’s The Red Hood, The Joker and Marvel’s Thanos, by the end of the movie, I became an instant fan of Disney’s Maleficent! Five years later, we are reintroduced to the character as she and her godchild (the soon-to-be queen) Aurora, along with their complicated relationship.

Maleficent is set to hit theaters around the country Friday October 18th, 2019.

Terminator: Dark Fate

Yes I know, “another Terminator movie…why?? Normally, I too would’ve ignored it and moved on to the next film, but there’s a reason I included this film on the roster, and it’s because Terminator 3 through 5 are totally ignored!! I don’t know about anyone else, but 3 through 5 were total disappointments and the only ones for me worth mentioning are 1 & 2. Why you ask? James Cameron, the then ingenious low-budget filmmaker! There was nothing like the original Terminator, it’s the movie that really put Arnold on the map, yet there was no one else in all of Hollywood who could pull off that deadpan robotic stillness, and let’s not forget that iconic catch phrase “I’ll Be Back.” If Schwarzenegger made Terminator 1, then it’s only safe to say Linda Hamilton owned Terminator 2 despite all the incredible effects! The story line in both films were fantastic, and to first introduce Arnold as the enemy terminator in the first film, only to bring him back as an ally in the second was pure genius!! The official third movie in the series will have all three main characters still played by Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong and Arnold Schwarzenegger return as Sarah Connor, John Connor and T-800 set out to protect a young woman 27 years subsequent to the events that took place in Terminator 2. Who are they protecting her from? A modified liquid metal terminator played by actor Gabriel Luna.

Terminator 3: Dark Fate is slated to hit theaters around the country Friday November 1st, 2019.

Ford v Ferrari

Based not only on the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, which was the real life 1966 rivalry between Ford and Ferrari, the movie revolves around two men Henry Ford II has hired to build and race a groundbreaking new car he plans to use in beating Ferrari’s best race cars. Meet legendary automotive designer Carrol Shelby and intrepid race car driver Ken Miles from Britain. These two gentlemen are known to be the creators of the Ford GT40 that won the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans and broke Ferrari’s five year winning record. The win itself was composed of not one, but three GT40s that embarrassingly left Ferrari’s cars in the dust that year; the finish was also bittersweet as Ken Miles who began the race eight meters ahead of the other two GT40s. Unlike other car races, Le Mans is all about endurance and not about the car who finishes first. I won’t say any more than that…

Ford v Ferrari is set to hit theaters around the country Friday November 15th, 2019.

Frozen 2

In 2013 we met Elsa of Arendelle, a princess born with magical powers. Unlike her younger sister (Anna), Elsa is able to produce and manipulate ice and loses control of her powers during coronation as the Queen of Arendelle. Soon after, the castle is turned to ice, the village of Arendelle and beyond begin to experience an ice winter with the possibility of no end. So Elsa escapes, and her sister with the help of a mountaineer and his reindeer, go off on an adventure to find Elsa and bring her back. What the first movie didn’t tell us was why Elsa was born with her powers. We’re looking forward to learning that secret in Frozen 2!

Frozen 2 is slated for release on Friday November 22nd, 2019.

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

Most people who grew up watching Sesame Street, Electric Company, Captain Kangaroo and even Pinwheel, will remember watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood. We all remember the way the show started with the theme song playing in the background, while Mr. Rogers entering his home and changing his shoes, dawning his bright red sweater and introducing himself, is something so simple yet unseen on any children’s show. Mr. Rogers goes out of his way to make everyone feel extra comfortable while providing children with direct content, tours, crafts, demonstrations and interactions with friends on the show. The movie is a biopic on his life of public service, challenges and successes. The main character is played by the academy award winning actor Tom Hanks.

A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood is set for release Friday November 22nd, 2019 in major theaters around the country.

21 Bridges

Chadwick Boseman (Marvel’s Black Panther) plays a dishonored New York City police detective who is investigating the death of fellow police officers, only to find there to be a conspiracy involving his own fraternal order of police. 21 Bridges is is produced by Joe and Anthony Russo, the same duo best known for being involved in four marvel movies (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame).

1 Bridges is set to hit theaters around the country Friday November 22nd, 2019.
