Romantic Things To Do In New York That Don’t Take A Lot Of Planning

New York City is the perfect place to find something romantic to do. This city never sleeps, so no matter what time of day it is, you can find a plethora of different romantic activities to take part in. The good news is (especially if you are a person that does not have a lot of attention to detail,) all of the romantic ideas below don’t take a lot of planning.

A Tour Of The Empire State Building And Dinner
An Empire State Building tour can be very romantic if you take it at the right time. Sunset in particular is a great time, as you can see Manhattan’s skyline with the sun setting in the background. After the tour, stop at one of the city’s many restaurants to enjoy some good food and wine. No matter what type of food your date likes, you are bound to find it in the city.

A Staten Island Ferry Ride
This romantic idea is free! For those that are looking for a budget friendly date option, this is the way to go. While on the boat you can see the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. It does get chilly in the evenings though, so don’t forget to pack a blanket so you and your honey can snuggle up under it to keep warm while seeing all of the sights.

Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge & Visit Brooklyn Bridge Park
Sunset is a perfect time to take the 30 minute stroll across this Gothic-style bridge and you are rewarded with spectacular views of lower Manhattan.  If you have time continue to the 85 acre Brooklyn Bridge Park.  In the Empire Fulton Ferry section of the park, Take a ride on Jane’s Carousel which was build in 1922 & is housed in a beautiful glass pavilion. At the Fulton Ferry Landing pier you can find live music on most night or enjoy a lobster roll at Luke’s or have dessert at the Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory.

Food Truck Hopping
New York City is filled with numerous food trucks. If you want to be able to enjoy a lot of conversation with your date while enjoying some delicious food, this is a great date idea. You can buy every course from a different food truck if you like. Then, find a comfy, secluded spot to sit down and enjoy your meal while you chat with one another.

Central Park
There’s a lot to do at Central Park if you are looking to enjoy a little romance. You can take your sweetheart on a carriage ride. There’s no need to book one of these rides in advance, as there tends to be a lot of carriage operators around. You can also pack a picnic basket filled with foods for a romantic lunch or dinner. Fall in particular is a great time to enjoy some of the romance of the city. The beautiful fall foliage makes it the perfect time to just hold hands and stroll through the park.

Visit Grand Central Station
From shopping & dining to people watching, this is often a place people don’t think to visit.  There are over 60 shops, 35 restaurants and lots of events that take place through the year including exhibits, a green market and craft fairs.
