New Cruise Ships 2020 & 2021

Bring on 2020!  There are several exciting new cruise ships on order for next year.  We have a look at some of the most anticipated new cruise ships coming in 2020.

• Ama Waterways River Cruises
  Expanding their “Certo” class ships, the AmaSiena comes out in July 2020 and the Amalucia in March of 2021. These elegant ships will welcome 156 passengers. Travelers can enjoy panoramic views in the twin balcony staterooms that feature a french balcony & an outside balcony as well.

• Carnival Mardi Gras
  One of the most anticipated new cruise ships of 2020 is Carnival Cruise Line’s Mardi Gras.  The new addition for Carnival will be the largest capacity passenger ship in the world, with a maximum capacity of 6,600 passengers.  Mardi Gras will be powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as well as other environmentally friendly features.  With such a large capacity for guests, Mardi Gras is designed with activities throughout the ship to prevent it feeling too crowded.  New to Carnival Mardi Gras is a live Family Feud gameshow onboard as well as innovative stateroom designs.  Mardi Gras will offer 7-day cruises to the Caribbean. A 2nd ship of this design has been ordered for completion in 2022.
• American Cruise Lines
  Three ships remain to be released out of the 5 that were announced by American Cruise Lines last year. The American Jazz, the American Melody and the 5th has yet to be names. The American Jazz cruise ship will begin its inaugural season on the Lower Mississippi in August of 2020. These ship feature a 5 story glass atrium, private balconies in all staterooms and amazing views from everywhere on the ship. American Jazz will also feature the same advanced opening bow and retractable gangway seen on American Song and American Harmony.

• Virgin Voyages Cruises
  Another highly anticipated new cruise ship of 2020 is Scarlet Lady, the first ship for Virgin Voyages.  The innovative, adults-only cruise ship will be centered around well-being and relaxation.  Scarlet Lady will offer guests an impressive fitness complex and adult playground, spa and salon, an outdoor yoga studio, a test kitchen, and a tattoo studio onboard.  Scarlet Lady’s cabins feature eco-friendly products, conserve energy when not in use, and are decked-out with technology including touch-screen tablets in each cabin.  Virgin Voyages’ inaugural cruise ship will offer 7-day itineraries in the Caribbean.
• Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas
  Royal Caribbean’s newest cruise ship for 2020 is the Odyssey of the Seas.  The Odyssey of the Seas will join its sister ships Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, and Ovation of the Seas in Royal Caribbean’s Quantum Ultra Class of cruise ships.  The family-friendly ship will feature a bumper car course and a skydiving simulator onboard, as well as pod that extends over the ship, offering guests 360 degree views of the ocean.  Odyssey of the Seas will set sail in late 2020 with more details to be released soon. Wonder of the Seas which will carry 5,400 passengers vs. the Odyssey at 4,100, will be ready in the Spring of 2021.
• Regent Seven Seas Splendor
  The ultra-luxury cruise line will be debuting the Seven Seas Splendor in early 2020 in what is anticipated to be the most luxurious new cruise ship in the world.  Each suite on the 750 passenger cruise ship features balcony views and will offer Regent’s signature all-inclusive, luxury approach. The inaugural cruise for Regent Cruises’ Seven Seas Splendor is a 14-day trans-Atlantic journey from Barcelona to Miami

• Celebrity Cruise Line
  The much anticipated sister ship to the Celebrity Edge, the Celebrity Apex cruise ship will begin sailing in April 2020. Celebrity Beyond (the 3rd ship in this class,) is being built and will be ready in the fall of 2021. This ship will be slightly larger at 140,600 tons vs. 130,818 of the Edge. There is a 4th Edge class ship for Fall 2022 and a 5th scheduled for Fall 2021.
• Princess Cruises
  The Enchanted Princess, sister to the Sky will be release in June 2020. The 6th Royal Princess class ship, the Discovery Princess is scheduled for release in November 2021. Princess also has a new class of ship, the LNG Class which will be larger at 4,300 passengers. These ships are scheduled to come out in 2023 & 2025.
• Lindblad Expeditions Cruises
  The sleek new design for the National Geographic Endurance is amazing. It was built with year round polar expeditions in mind. The ship will begin sailing April 2020. “Its patented X-BOW® is key to its design; its powerful wave-slicing action provides an extremely smooth ride in even adverse conditions, and even reduces spray on deck, for superior observation.” The ship will carry various types of expedition tools including kayaks, Zodiac landing craft, kayaks, snowshoes, cross-country skis, undersea specialist operating a remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) and underwater video camera for unique access to polar marine world, hydrophone, aerial remote-controlled camera and video microscope. Special features also include a full time doctor, undersea specialist, professional National Geographic Photographer, Lindblad-National Geographic certified photo instructor & video chronicler, laundry facility and internet cafe. A sister ship, the National Geographic Resolution is schedule for the 4th quarter of 2021.
