Football has become synonymous with Thanksgiving. Professional football has been played on Thanksgiving since 1920. Currently three NFL games are played every Thanksgiving. In many households it’s one of their favorite parts of turkey day. We’ve included not only information about the upcoming big games, but some interesting facts about Thanksgiving football so that you can prepare for all of the upcoming action.

Interesting Facts
-Until 2006 Thanksgiving Day games were only played in Dallas and Detroit. Since 2006, games have been played at variety of different cities and evening games have been added as well.
-Two teams have never played in a Thanksgiving Day game: the Jaguars and the Panthers.
-With the exception of 1941-1944, when no football games were played because of WWII, the Detroit Lions have played in every Thanksgiving Day game. Coincidentally they have the most wins and losses on Thanksgiving Day.
– Since 1966 the Cowboys have played in every Thanksgiving Day game and have the second most wins.
– Cincinnati and Tampa Bay have never won a Thanksgiving Day game.

Football Games to Watch Thanksgiving Day

Put down the turkey leg, save the dishes for later and let’s get ready for some football!

• Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions at 12:30 p.m. on CBS This is the first game of the big Thanksgiving weekend games. With the Bears currently having a better season than the Lions, they are the favorites, however the Lions always play well on Thanksgiving day.
• Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on CBS. Make sure you finish Thanksgiving dinner early so that you can watch this big game.
• New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons at 8:20 p.m. on NBC After all the pie has been eaten, it’s time for this long awaited for game.
• If you prefer college games, you can watch Mississippi at Mississippi State on ESPN at 7:30 pm.

Foot ball Games to Watch on Black Friday

• Fox, CBS and ESPN all have college games on Black Friday.

If this isn’t enough football for you there will be 11 different football games to watch on Sunday & plenty of college games on Saturday including Auburn at Alabama & Michigan at Ohio St.
