Airports Spreading Holiday Cheer

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

When you are traveling during the holidays, it can be stressful.  One thing that can easily lighten a mood is seeing holiday decorations. Even airports are trying to make things a little more festive for travelers navigating their way through busy terminals.

We’re sharing just a few of the most popular airports spreading holiday cheer.

Munich Airport
This might be the most festive airport in the world. The airport is adorned with real pine trees and numerous decorations. This year they are hosting a holiday market through December 29th, that features 44 booths and plenty of items to purchase like gingerbread and bratwurst. If shopping is not your thing, you can take a spin around the ice rink. There are children’s activities, live music (Jazz Tuesday through Sunday at 6 pm & on Thursdays the ice rink has a DJ,) as well as magic shows.   Events run daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (on Christmas Eve until 5 p.m.) – on Fridays and Saturdays the caterers are open until 10 p.m.

Zurich Airport
Just visiting this airport really can make travelers get into the holiday spirit.  There are human-sized snowmen, plus plenty of Christmas trees & lights decorating the airport. Holiday music can also be heard throughout. Zurich Airport will be catering to those last minute shoppers as well. There are plenty of shops & stands for them to find a present or two, plus a wrapping station. For parents who are trying to get some shopping done but have little ones in tow, there is the supervised, Children’s Paradise area. Parents can leave their children here, free of charge, while they visit some of the airport’s boutiques.

Singapore’s Changi Airport
Now through January 5th, travelers can experience a Frozen Wonderland in Changi in honor of the new Frozen 2 movie.  On select days, get a chance to be up close and personal with Elsa, Anna and Olaf! Daily from 10 am to 10 pm, adventure awaits you in the Enchanted Forest! Embark on a journey packed with challenges across four different zones designed around the four elements. Conquer all four elements for a magical surprise. Also daily on every half an hour from 7:30 to 9:30 pm, be prepared to be dazzled by an array of light, sound, and snow as Terminal 3 transforms into a Frozen Wonderland.  Friday through Sundays from 10 an to 11 pm. By Terminal 2 departure hall Snap a picture with an almost 10 foot tall Olaf!

Wander through this Arendelle-inspired marketplace as you discover exclusive products, participate in art & craft workshops and savour festive delights.

Denver International
For the 4th year in a row, Denver International airport has added a pop-up ice skating rink located at the DEN plaza. It’s all free including the skate rentals.  The rink is open through January 30th from 9 am to 9 pm. ON Friday afternoons they offer winter activities, hot chocolate & cider.

JFK Airport
The TWA Hotel which is across the road from the Jet Blue terminal at JFK International Airport is also offering an ice skating rink.  It will open on November 30th through the end of February, located adjacent to the airplane -turned cocktail lounge, Lockheed Constellation.  Monday through Friday it’s open 4 to 9 pm; Fridays from 4 to 10 pm and Saturdays & Sundays from 10 am to 10 pm.  Admission is $15 for adults & $10 for children under the age of 12.  Skate rentals are an additional $8 to $10.
