Don’t Miss The Final Full Moon of the Decade on 12/12

As 2019 comes to a close, the final full moon, officially the “Long Night’s Moon,” will be fully illuminated on 12/12 at 12:12 am EST. According to NASA, at that precise time, the Moon is 100% illuminated by the Sun.  Interestingly enough, it is not the best time to see the full moon.  The best time to see the moon is as it rises in the east, which will be at sunset today (12/11.) 

If you are out at 12:12 am EST on the 12th, you can also see that Venus and Saturn will appear very close to one another, at the exact same time as the “Long Night’s Moon.”

Those who follow numerology, are sure to be interested by the symbolism of the repetition of the number 12.  Of course horoscope fans will also be reading up on the connection of Saturn and Venus being unusually close (along with the full moon,) to see what that means for their horoscope in the coming year.

“In Chinese numerology, 12 represents the harmony of the yin and yang: The number 1 is a yang number, ruled by the Sun and symbolizes independence and individualism,” the Farmers’ Almanac says. “The number 2 is a yin number ruled by the Moon and represents symmetry and balance. Together they equal harmony. Which is why many couples choose to marry on dates with 12s in them.”

The first full Moon of 2020 will be the “Wolf Moon” on Friday, January 10th.
