DoD Whitepaper Claims Military Doesn't Need Presidential Authority To Enact Martial Law
According to the paper with the subject of “Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies“, the military can act as law enforcement to “quell large-scale, unexpected disturbances.” This paper was released in February 2013 at the height of the gun ban push.
Here is a screen shot of page 16 where it spells out that the military can violate Posse Comitatus as long as local authorities decline or are unavailable to object.
Many news reports over the last few months already show that the military has been actively training in cities in different parts of the United States. This is a report from South Florida from last year where the militrary was conducting drills in the city.
This is clearly an attempt to desensitize the public to acclimatize people to the idea of military law enforcement in their cities. It’s also interesting to note that the local reporter made the story sound like it was sort of fun, or makes for a good story to tell your friends, that these drills are happening.
