What a Trump GOP Nomination Means for America: D.W. Ulsterman
D.W. Ulsterman
My readers already know I’ve been intrigued by the Trump phenomena for some time now.
That said, even I have to admit to some degree of amazement that Donald Trump actually managed to defy expectation and the odds and emerge victorious from a pack of seventeen other Republican candidates all vying to win the 2016 GOP nomination.
It was a cyborg-like primary campaign in which both the GOP and media establishments worked in unison to terminate the Trump threat – a threat that somehow appeared to grow stronger after each attack. It is rather ironic that the popular (and lucrative) Apprentice television program that Mr. Trump gave up in order to run for president will now be hosted by the most famous cinema-cyborg of all, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
And like the Terminator franchise, the cyborg that started out in the first installment as the seemingly indestructible bad guy was soon the subsequent films’ primary hero and savior of humanity.
And so too is Donald Trump seen in a similar light by millions of voters sick and tired of feeling sick and tired in America.
Fascinating.
Ah, but what now, reader?
Whispers continue of real legitimate and near-debilitating fear within the Hillary Clinton campaign regarding having to face a bellicose and unafraid Donald Trump. You see, Democrats have long utilized to great effect the clarion calls of racism, sexism, and class division. They did so for the simple reason it worked time and time again, and that working was due in great part to Republican politicians who would tremble at the thought of facing such allegations.
Remember Mitt Romney, who at this time in 2012 was being foisted upon Republican voters as the only candidate who could defeat Barack Obama? And remember too how quickly Romney’s momentum dissipated after just a handful of stories regarding his views on women, the poor, etc?
He simply stopped fighting and then predictably, lost in an almost-landslide to a hapless Barack Obama.
Contrast that with this response by Donald Trump when confronted just yesterday by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer regarding allegations that Trump started the “Birther” movement against Barack Obama:
This is unlike any Republican candidate in recent memory when faced with an issue meant to embarrass and then silence them. Donald Trump shrugs off the allegation, reminds viewers (correctly by the way) that it was the Clinton 2008 campaign that initiated the questions on a national level regarding Barack Obama’s past, including the status of his citizenship, and then he smoothly pivots the discussion to a far more important issue – the still ongoing FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private server scandal.
When Wolf Blitzer tries for a second time to trip Trump up on the Birther issue by saying Hillary Clinton will raise the issue against him, he simply says he will raise it against her, thus sending Team Clinton a message that if they choose to make that an issue, it will be Hillary Clinton who will be left trying to explain it and not him. Trump even goes on to dismiss the question in its entirety, a dismissal that is as much about Barack Obama as anything, as if to say, “if it’s about Obama who cares at this point? He’s on his way out and I’m on my way in.”
You know that kind of dismissal leaves the thin-skinned Obama seething. You also know that Trump is all too aware of that fact.
It is this particular quality about Donald Trump that most infuriates the Mainstream Media – he doesn’t fear them, and often is able to have them be the ones to appear foolish and petty. More politicians would do well to learn from Mr. Trump’s example.
So can Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton?
Absolutely. In fact, he has the potential to do so in a landslide. He could also finally self-destruct as well, and find himself routed by the Clinton Machine.
The more important question is if Donald Trump will make a good (or even great) President of the United States? For me that basis of greatness is based upon two fundamental responsibilities of an American president:
One, national security and two, economic opportunity. On these two points, Donald Trump represents the greatest potential of any of the 2016 GOP candidates – as well as the greatest risk. Primary voters made clear they were willing to take that risk and I cannot help but be excited to see how it all plays out. Should Trump defeat Hillary Clinton the subsequent four years could prove to be an affirmation of America’s greatness, or confirmation of its continued decline.
What say you, reader?

I am putting all of my trust and faith in Donald Trump. He instill fears in the progressive party, traitors and the spineless jellyfish within this nation and around the world. I like his Americanism. We haven’t seen this kind of alpha man since Andrew Jackson. I am anxious to see the generals he appoints. I don’t think they will be gay and/or transgendered.
It’s time to elect a outsider. The cobwebs and vermin has to be shaken out of the political closets of the Whitehouse and the Capital . BO was just the same old song with a little color added to it. Hag Hillary is just a hideous cackle in a pants suit with a very shadowy history . I’m sure this country can find someone better then a Clinton or a Bush.
