FBI field offices in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, D.C. and Little Rock, Ark., are checking out the Clinton Foundation relating to accusations of pay-to-play financial and political crime, based on a Wall Street Journal article Sunday.
Mirroring data supplied by a ex – senior law enforcement official that “multiple FBI investigations are underway involving potential corruption charges against the Clinton Foundation,” the Journal verifies what The Daily Caller News Foundation Investigative Group noted in August.
FBI field offices in three cities, especially, New York, Little Rock and Washington, D.C., were organizing with the U.S. Attorneys working in those cities. FBI agents in Miami are also joining the probe, FLI has since learned.
The Clinton Foundation has countless programs functioning in Haiti, the Caribbean, Latin America and South America.
“Los Angeles agents had picked up information about the Clinton Foundation from an unrelated public corruption case and had issued some subpoenas for bank records related to the foundation” and detailed the strange field office effort as “at times a sprawling cross-country effort,” the Wall Street Journal accounts.
Several polls introduced Saturday and Sunday display a high-speed degeneration of presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s lead in the wake of Friday’s disclosure by FBI Director James Comey that he is reopening the email server investigation. Comey stated in August that he did not think the FBI’s investigation of Clinton and her use of private servers and private email addresses to execute official diplomatic business would be productive.
Comey’s headline Friday was related to a standalone investigation of child pornography allegations towards former Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat who is married to Clinton’s best companion, Huma Abedin. Weiner and Abedin split up earlier this year subsequent a third disclosure of his sexting with an underage girl.
Also probable to raise new questions about the Obama administration’s political interference in the case was the Journal’s exposure that Department of Justice (DOJ) officials consistently attempted to shut down FBI field investigations.
An unidentified senior Justice Department official “voice(d) his dissatisfaction at finding that New York FBI agents were still candidly going after the Clinton Foundation probe,” based on the WSJ.
The Justice Department official “was pissed off” that the Foundation investigation was continuous.
“Are you telling me that I need to shut down a validly predicated investigation?” FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe inquired the unidentified official, as quoted by WSJ. “Of course not,” the unnamed official supposedly responded.
Additional agents “further down the FBI chain of command, however, said agents were given a much starker instruction on the case: ‘Stand down,’” WSJ noted.
The D.C. field office was “probing financial relationships involving [Terry] McAuliffe before he became a Clinton Foundation board member,” based on WSJ.
McAuliffe, who is currently Virginia’s Democratic governor and is a ex – Democratic National Committee chairman, was one of the primary members of the Clinton Foundation’s board of directors and is the longest-serving director.
McAuliffe is amid the most productive Democratic Party fundraising agents and is a component to the Clinton’s inner circle. McAuliffe also provided the Clintons $1.3 million, which allows them to purchase an 11-room mansion in New York.
