“Racist” National Anthem Banned From California High School Events

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Is the national anthem too racist for school events?

That’s the prevailing wisdom at California High School in San Ramon where student leadership officials have decided to ban the “Star Spangled Banner” from sports rallies thanks to a “problematic” third verse that has never once been sung at any public event in the history of the United States. Taking their cues from the profiteers over at the NAACP, the school determined that the national anthem is “racist and anti-black,” according to the school’s newspaper, The Californian.

That verse – the one unknown to 99% of Americans  – recites the phrase: “No refuge could save the hireling and slave…”

Gee, how about we just don’t sing that part? Oh, right, we already decided to leave it out…decades ago.

“It was brought to our attention that the national anthem’s third verse is outdated and racially offensive,” wrote the Associated Student Body president in an open letter. “We had nothing but good intentions by removing the song so that we could be fully inclusive to our student body.”

Right, you don’t want to offend all the hirelings and slaves in attendance.

“This verse translated, finds joy in the killing of African-Americans,” he wrote. “To think that our nation’s anthem once had the word slave and ‘land of the free’ in the same sentence leaves me speechless.”

Untrue, sadly.

“Moving forward,” he continued, “we must take action and be inclusive to all. This song was written in 1814. That was 204 years ago. Imagine all the traditions and laws that have changed. As our culture shifts to one that is more diverse and accepting of all types of people, so must our traditions. And although we understand that this anthem represents pride and patriotism in our country to many people, we believe that there are other ways that this can be accomplished without an expense to inclusivity on our campus.”

Oh, we strongly doubt it. Already we’ve learned that our new, “diverse” nation cannot tolerate: The national anthem, memorials to the Founding Fathers, memorials to Confederate soldiers, the American flag, Christopher Columbus, the Constitution (as written), and the President of the United States. And we’re sure if there are any patriotic demonstrations as yet untouched by the liberal agenda, they won’t be left alone for long. Hell, most of the ignorant left in this country believes that any display of patriotism is offensive to illegal immigrants (sorry, undocumented citizens) and residents of other, less fortunate countries. The only proper way to acknowledge your citizenship is with shame, especially if you have the misfortune of being white.

So no, don’t even bother replacing the national anthem with some other form of “pride and patriotism,” because we’re sure that one will be deemed “problematic” as well. Let’s all just stew in our guilt and regret until we implode in one magnificent burst of self-loathing. Should be great fun.
