Spain, struggling to rebury dictator Franco, hands ultimatum to his family

Regardless of political persuasion, a matter of public concern is the venomous hatred the left holds for political foes without regard for passage of time. The Left’s hatred extends to street signs, monuments, obelisks, works of art, and grave-digging. It doesn’t stop short of targeting innocent family members of those the left hate and fear. Leftist hatred is a cancer that seemingly cannot be purged from Marx’s self-styled socialists.

In their crosshairs again Spain’s governing regime, which found itself in power due to a minor political skirmish, rushes to beat an impending election with their intention to desecrate the last resting place of revered former leader General Francisco Franco.

Curiously, the left’s hatred for ‘dictators’ doesn’t include left-wing dictators whose body count, by comparison, makes those of any Civil War of little consequence. Stalin and his henchmen were responsible for the deaths of millions of workers and their families during on-going reigns of Red Terror committed in times of peace. One will wait a long time to see a left-wing dictator condemned by the left; who in fact worship such monsters.

Millions of Spaniards and non-Spaniards recognise the heroic General Franco as the man who saved Spain from the Bolshevik terror sweeping Europe in the 1930s. Despite being sanctioned by the United States, UN, and the UK, the Spanish leader restored peace, provided work, security, and ensured the people’s faith whilst bringing prosperity that Spaniards had never before enjoyed. For this, the left-wing shows undying hatred that spans generations.

Spain’s regime has again clashed with the family of the late Francisco Franco, over the removal of his remains from a civil war memorial in a move that deeply divides all Spaniards. One has to ask, is the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE) trying to stir up dying embers and start another civil war?

The Spanish regime by a narrow parliamentary margin that should have given pause for thought has committed for the disinterment of General Franco. The remains of the man dubbed Hero of Spain rests in the ‘Valley of the Fallen’. This is a monumental memorial built by him to honour all who had lost their lives in the Spanish Civil War (1936 – 1939).

Located north-west of the Spanish capital Madrid, the Valley of the Fallen hosts a Catholic basilica and a vast underground crypt built right in the rock, which contains the bodies more than 30,000 people from all sides of the Spanish Civil War that split the country in the late 1930s.

The memorial, which Franco himself wanted to become an “act of atonement”, has proven to be a source of irritation to Spain’s left-wing caucus decades after the leader’s death. Even left=-leaning Russia Today concedes that “Spain seems to be re-opening old sores” and adds that “the politicians’ attempt to resolve controversies around Franco’s resting place, appear to only make things worse.”

The Madrid regime’s decision to remove Franco’s remains from the memorial is facing fierce opposition from the leader’s descendants supported by much of Spanish society.

The regime’s Socialist Workers Party issued an ultimatum to the dictator’s descendants, giving them 15 days to choose a new burial site for the late ruler. If they fail to do so, the decision on the issue will fall to the government.

Franco’s relatives’ however, are defiant as they announced that would challenge the Cabinet’s decision in the Supreme Court. Earlier, Luis Alfonso de Borbon, the family’s most outspoken defender of his great-grandfather’s legacy, repeatedly criticised the move.

“When you attack Franco, you attack my family, over half of Spain, the monarchy and the Church which protected him,” he told local media in October 2018. “History will condemn those who profane this magnificent temple,” he wrote referring to the ‘Valley of the Fallen’ basilica, where Franco has been buried in 1975.
