Non-Believers Open the Door to Islamic Fundamentalism

Iranian President Ahmadinejad, whom many have dismissed as a ‘lunatic,’ is followed by millions of Muslims whom these same disbelievers must also be dismissing as ‘fanatics.’ Then there are disbelievers who continue to be blind or ignorant to the Islamic campaign now being conducted by ‘moderate’ Muslims as they attempt to counter the voices that are exposing Islamic global aspirations of ‘Sharia Law.’ And most dangerous of all are those disbelievers who want to delegitimize the very voices that are speaking out exposing these dangers to western democracy. All of these people are making a monumental mistake.

Ahmadinejad can be heard rallying his followers as he tells them that Americans, like Europeans, will wake up “when it is too late.” These disbelieving Americans with their ‘head in the sand’ attitude or publicly correct perception of ‘religious tolerance’ are paving the way for the spread of Islam into the US thru our democratic process. And all Islamic leaders around the world are taking advantage of it.

Suhail Khan, a rising GOP figure who sits on the Board of the American Conservative Union, claims to speak as a moderate Muslim and therefore has the ears of both conservatives and liberals. Here is part of a speech he gave in early September, four days before 9/11, at the Islamic Society of North America’s convention as he wiped away his impassioned tears: “The early Muslims loved death, dying for the sake of almighty Allah, more than the oppressors loved life… This must be the case when we are fighting.” He added: “What are our oppressors going to do with a people like us? We are prepared to give our lives for the cause of Islam.”

Islam is a faith overflowing with believers willing to die for Allah. The Koran glorifies death with its concept of martyrdom and the virgins waiting in heaven for its followers. Generations of Muslim children are indoctrinated with this concept from the early days of their childhood and they can be heard singing the praises of dying for their cause. (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=illF1vt5g1Q&feature=player_embedded) In contrast, Western civilization which has its core beliefs stemming from Judeo-Christian principles does not emphasize this concept.  

Therefore, one must recognize that Islamic Fundamentalism is a movement that can’t be overthrown by the threat of violence or death to its followers. Unlike other enemies we have had, Islamic Fundamentalists and their terrorist supporters cannot be stopped with the same weaponry. The history of the nuclear standoff during the cold war years shows that the shared view of death successfully prevented Russia and the US from nuclear war. The fact was that the Russians loved their children the same way Americans loved theirs, instinctively protecting them from death. In direct contrast, Muslims use their women and children as willing shields and young men and women as martyrs who welcome death.

Americans do not often talk about “What is worth dying for?” This conversation can be heard in military families, but it is not a subject commonly discussed at the dinner table. We read of it in our history books, and see it in movies or TV. For many it brings to the surface feelings of patriotism and the pride of belonging to a nation with a great history, one worth fighting and dying for. It is what true heroism is about and the necessary ingredient to motivate masses of people. History has shown that one individual, committed to his beliefs to his death, can rally the millions to the same point. So, imagine the power of millions of Muslims who feel this way.

One can see this most recently in the Middle East where the civil uprising in Tunisia began with one desperate soul who doused himself with flammable liquid and set himself afire just to show the depth of his despair. His suffering was felt by his fellow citizens and his actions copied by some. This one man ignited what is now being seen as the civil ‘revolution’ spreading throughout the Middle East.

Americans must develop the same fervor for our principles as Muslims display for Islam. But, a recent poll shows that we are a nation with a growing  population that is moving away from faith, away from religious affiliations, and away from any religious symbolism in the public arena (except for the Social Conservatives and Muslims). It is critical that each of us, irrelevant of our religious, political or economic differences, recognizes how the collective strength of the Islamic faith can easily overpower a nation whose citizens do not have a strong faith in their principles. It is the power of faith that our country was founded on and it is the power of faith that is needed to stop the spread of Islam in America.

For those who do not look towards a religion, nor have a belief in something greater than themselves for spiritual guidance, or don’t perceive and therefore dismiss the real dangers of Islamic law (Sharia) spreading into America, I offer the following list of truths about Islam and the Koran which might open your eyes to what is really worth fighting and dying for, our common love of freedom and democracy.

1. Muslims are ordered in the Koran to spread the word of Allah to all people, but it is blasphemy and punishable by death for others to try to convert a Muslim to their faith.

2. The Koran preaches hatred and killing of Jews, Christians and Infidels who do not worship Allah.

3. Homosexuality is punishable by death.

4. Women’s rights are subservient to men’s. Islamic societies are male dominated and a man may kill his wife if he believes she has shamed him just to protect his honor.

5. Women are stoned to death on accusations of adultery or pre-marital sex, not to mention marrying outside of their Islamic faith.

6. Thieves have their right hands cut off.

7. Alcoholism and drug abuse are punishable offenses.

8. The Koran teaches Muslims to lie and deceive others in order to achieve the goal of Islamic Jihad.

9. Beheading people is a common punishment and befitting for Infidels.

10. Muslims want everyone to be Muslim, to enact Sharia Law as international law.
11. There should be a borderless Islamic world…whether it comes as a result of conversion, birthrate, immigration, intimidation or murder.

I offer this partial list as reason to believe that America’s freedoms are worth fighting and dying for. Our freedoms are what continues to bring people to our shores and must be the unifying principles for all to believe in. Our freedoms are not to be taken for granted and the battle to destroy them must not be dismissed. There are many who want to kill us and end western civilization as we know it.
