The Iraq War is Over?

A war is not over until both opposing, combating parties agree that the war is over. If not, all it amounts to is a unilateral withdrawal (or retreat) of the United States from the war. I have not heard that al-Qaeda in Iraq (AQI) has also withdrawn from the Iraq War. Therefore, the war continues even though President Obama declared that the war was ending. Specifically, the president said, “The bottom line is this: The war is ending. Like any sovereign, independent nation, Iraq is free to chart its own course. And by the end of next year, all of our troops will be home.” At best, I consider that as wishful thinking. Al-Qaeda will pour combatants into Iraq once all of our troops leave for home. Mark my words!

The next time you hear Boom! Boom! Boom!, you will definitely know that the war is not ending. More dramatically, when more of our armed forces personnel are killed in Iraq from suicide bombers, exploding improvised explosive devices (IEDs), and insurgent attacks, will we still believe that the war is ending just because the commander-in-chief (CINC) said so? I do not think so. Because of the total lack of knowledge of warfare, the CINC decides to make such meaningless edicts. A war is not ending because he unilaterally says it is ending. A war is ended when you make it end. Anything else is retreat.

Friends, the Iraq War is not ending. The presidential edict was made only for political purposes as we get closer to the November 2, 2010, elections. There will be other such politically motivated edicts and silly actions including October surprises. Every action of the Obama administration has a political basis. I remember vividly how the liberal Democrats and the lame-stream media jumped all over George W. Bush when he stood next to the sign that said “Mission Accomplished.” Well, we all knew that the mission was not accomplished. Likewise, Obama declaring that the Iraq War is ending is just another one of such media events.

Only when we render al-Qaeda as demised, then we can say that the war is ending or even over. Until then, the Obama administration can try hard to deceive the population that the Iraq war is ending. When al-Qaeda surrenders, then the war is ending. When al-Qaeda gives up their intention of world domination, then the war is ending. When al-Qaeda disarms, then the war is ending. If none of the aforementioned is forthcoming, then only when we totally annihilate al-Qaeda, then the war will be ended. Until then, keep looking behind you, for the enemy is there to get you in the back.
