Outrage! France Bans Protesting Israeli Abuse In Palestine. 'Threatens Public Order'
As tens of thousands of pro-democracy and human rights individuals globally protest Israel’s genocide of Palestians, France’s socialist government provoked outrage yesterday by becoming the first in the world to ban protests against Israeli action in Palestine.
Viewed as an outrageous attack on democracy, Socialist Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said mass demonstrations planned for the weekend should be halted. Cazeneuve said there was a “threat to public order”, while opponents said he was “criminalising” popular support of the Palestinian people.

For example, some 40 000 people poured through central Cape Town Saturday, protesting at Parliament the Palestine “massacre.” The city came to a standstill at lunchtime as marchers handed a memorandum to the chairperson of Parliament’s international relations portfolio committee, Siphosezwe Masango.
Over 1500 people rallied yesterday in Minnesota, standing in solidarity with Gaza and demanding an end to Israel’s attacks. Crowds lined sidewalks for blocks and then took the street, marching down Central Avenue, one of the busiest thoroughfares in the Twin Cities.
The demonstration was held “to give voice to growing opposition to Israel’s inhumane attacks, and to build pressure on the Minnesota’s congressional delegation to end U.S. military aid to Israel,” according to the organizing flyer.
In France, something different happened this weekend, causing even more outrage.
Thousands of French people also were set to march against the ongoing slaughter in Gaza, calling for an immediate end to hostilities in which civilians, including many children, have been killed. French Minister Cazeneuve, however, halted the marhc, claiming he feared a possible repeat of fights between ultra-Jewish vigilantes and pro-Palestinians that occurred after a demonstration last Sunday.
“I consider that the conditions are not right to guarantee security,” Cazeneuve said, referring to the planned main Paris march,
He welcomed a legal procedure instigated by Paris police prefecture to ban the march, despite it already being widely advertised.
Cazeneuve also advised other prefects across France to examine planned marches on a “case-by-case” basis, and to ban them “if appropriate.”
“By outlawing free speech by pro-Palestinian demonstrators, France puts itself in a unique position in the world and Europe,” said Michele Sibony of the Jewish Union for Peace.
Youssef Boussoumah, of the Party of the Indigenous of the Republic (PIR) said: “France is criminalising any show of solidarity with the Palestinian people. This is an absolute outrage; it is a continuation of attempts to muzzle the Palestinian people and to get them and their supporters in France to surrender absolutely to Israel’s oppression.”
Sylvie Perrot, another pro-Palestine activist from Paris, said: “Fascist states stop people demonstrating against wars – it is beyond belief that French Socialists are following their example.”
There were false claims last week that synagogues in Paris had been targeted by pro-Palestinian demonstrators. To the contrary, videos prove that armed vigilantes from a group called Jewish Defence League (LDJ) were baiting demonstrators into fights.
No arrests were made among the LDJ, despite them fighting and smashing property in full view of police.
Six pro-Palestine protestors, howeve, were arrested for a variety of public order offences, but none had been anywhere near Paris synagogues, which remained undamaged.
A judicial enquiry is to be launched into the false allegations about the synagogue attacks – ones people claim were fabricated to demonise supporters of Palestine by associating them with anti-Semitism.
Opposing human rights abuses, including genocide and crimes against humanity, does not equate with anti-Semitism.

France is right. Why should people protest something that isn’t happening? The Israeli’s aren’t killing the civilians. Iranian backed Hamas are killing civilians by using them as human shields. Israeli is even calling up the people who live in the areas of potential strikes, where Hamas has their rocket launchers amongst civilian sites, to tell them to leave before they bomb. There was nothing on the BBC or in the newspapers (The London evening standard) which main office was 200 meters away) two weeks ago when there was a large Palestinian demonstration outside the Israeli embassy in London. The British government and security services are censoring these things more and more. This is a very bad move, as when people cannot get their views into the mainstream press by peaceful and maybe noisy demonstrations some may regretfully go to more extreme measures that cannot be covered up or ignored to get their point across to the public, possibly leading to loss of life and damage to property which would be impossible to cover up or ignore. This goes for ALL political demonstrations, regardless of which side or party supported. Please take note governments.
