Moscow is urgent calling for an International investigation into all air raids carried out by the USAF-led coalition on civilians in Syria and Iraq, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Konstantin Dolgov, stated at Monday’s news conference.
“Airstrikes carried out by the US-led coalition kill real civilians, not some mythical people,” Dolgov said.
“It is necessary to investigate all these cases.” “Is there any response? No, except for attempts to blame Russia for these incidents. Bombs are dropped on Mosul, with civilians dying there. Double standards are dangerous, they undermine confidence in the rule of law.”
According to the diplomat, last week Russia presented detailed evidence on human rights violations by the coalition and crimes committed by the militants.
“We are awaiting some kind of response, we are talking about this not for the sake of making a witty remark,” Dolgov insisted.
“We are waiting for an impartial investigation and a punishment for the culprits.”
“Our answer is the truth, which is a powerful thing,” Dolgov noted. “We will continue to present these facts to our Western colleagues systematically and consistently.”
The diplomat went on to say that militant groups benefit from Western media’s disinformation about Russia’s actions in Syria.
“Our Western colleagues do not shun anything, TV channels with a longstanding reputation are involved in this shell game scam,” Dolgov said. “Such attempts to demonize Russia play into the hands of terrorists and extremists, the Al-Nusra Front (outlawed in Russia). Such disinformation attempts are a factor of support for the terrorists,” he said.
