Northern Slider Nor'easter System Likely for Mainly Wednesday Across Northeastern United States

A system will develop over Northern Kentucky later Tuesday night, starting the deformation band across IL/IN and moving through Ohio.  This will continue to gain strength as the storm moves east-northeastward on Wednesday.  This is what I call a ‘Northern Slider’ system.   This system never phases with the gulf low, therefore it is a split-system scenario.  The parent surface low will cross New Jersey and southeast of Cape Cod on Wednesday, bringing the heaviest snowfall far north into New England.  This is what a ‘Northern Slider’ does.
 

So far the forecast from March 6th for this storm remains on track as a ‘Northern Slider’ split system.  Snow to the north, mixing between, and rainfall south of there.  The heaviest snowfall will be from Upstate NY eastward through VT/NH and Maine, including the Bangor and Calais areas.
 

Gusty winds may accompany the system in these areas, making for reduced visibility …
 

Rain will fall south of New York City, so confidence in D.C. southward being all rain is certainly there.
