Severe Thunderstorms Probable for Western Oregon to Southwest Washington This Evening

(TheWeatherSpace.com) – Severe Thunderstorms are possible this evening with a storm system moving through, mainly targeting Western Oregon zones north of Roseburg and Southwest Washington zones.  This storm could contain a risk of isolated tornado potential and does include the Portland metro zones.

A storm system moving into the Pacific Northwest now will drag the main cold front through later this evening.  Southerly flow in the low levels will be present due to the surface low being just to the west of the target area.  Being the surface low is west of the area, winds sucking into it from the south or south-southeast will work with winds in the mid/upper levels from the southwest to produce the needed shear for supercell thunderstorms to be possible.

Given the instability for this time of year, upper divergence for lift, and deep-layer moisture, do feel the area may need some type of convective product like a severe thunderstorm watch.
