Southern California Storm Arrives Wednesday With Thunderstorms

(Southern California Weather Authority.com) – A storm system will bring a weak front through the area later Monday into Tuesday, with the strongest dynamics associated with the cold core low on Wednesday for a good chance of thunderstorms.

It’s that time of the year again, Spring.  Spring and Fall usually bring us the best thunderstorm dynamics due to the warmer low levels vs colder mid-levels.  On Wednesday, deep-layer moisture connects into the region with stronger instability with the cold-core low for thunderstorms to be probable.  Now where they will form is not known, however this is how I see it playing.

As the upper low’s center is just to the south of our area, this puts the entire Southern California regions, from coast, valley, mountains, and deserts in the upper divergent zone, peak daytime heating, deep-layer moisture, and acceptable instability for widespread thunderstorm activity.

Here at the Southern California Weather Authority, the storm will be monitored both on the website and on Facebook.  Mountain snow may accompany this system.  Snow level with the cold core will be around or just under 5,000 feet so I do think snow will fall out the mountain community level with this coming storm.
