West Coast Emergencies, Evacuations Declared! Nat'l Guard Troops Deployed

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The west coast is under emergency declarations with more to follow at the rate global warming is spreading wildfires across parched states, prompting governors to declare forced evacuations from hundreds of homes. As the number of people having their lives ruined by drought and fire goes up, the number supporting government action on global warming goes up, too.

Hot, dry weather has led to wildfires up the West Coast, from California to British Columbia where there over 24 major fires threaten lives and homes. This pattern is occurring earlier and earlier each year, and lasting longer, according to scientists.

Emergency conditions “caused by drought, high temperatures and wind” are sending wide stretches of mostly rural Washington, Oregon and Nevada up into flames, according to KDSK News.

In Washington state, the Chiwaukum Creek Fire, about 10 miles north of Leavenworth, a small town near the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, raced across over 1,200 acres by Wednesday evening. As many as 400 people had already been told to leave their homes or cabins, but 800 more homes were threatened by Wed. night.

In Eastern Washington, a state of emergency was declared for 20 counties.

The Mills Canyon Complex fire, that swept through over 20,000 acres, was 40% contained by Wednesday afternoon.

Washington state got  federal approval to use a drone to help it monitor the wildfires there.

Oregon: Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber declared a state of emergency so the state could mobilize Oregon’s National Guard to help combat 13 ongoing fires in the state.

Some of the hardest-hit areas include the Buzzard fire complex in the east, approaching 90,000 acres and the Bailey Butte fire, that has burned more than 2,000 acres and was moving south into the Ochoco National Forest.

Combined with two other fires, the Waterman Complex, over 4,000 acres of Oregon were burning.

The fires started from lightening strikes. Some 428 people have been assigned to fight the fire.

Nevada: A wildfire near Carson City overtook 150 acres on Wednesday.

California: The Bully Fire in Shasta County, sparked by the exhaust from a marijuana grower’s truck, was 40% contained, according to Cal Fire.

As more people are directly negatively impacted by climate change, they are forsaking their pseudo science and the disinformation gurus controlling “alternative” media.

A poll released this month by Yale Project on Climate Change Communication found US voters are 2.5 times more likely to vote for a congressional or presidential candidate who supports action to tackle global warming. They found voters are three times more likely to vote against a candidate who opposes this action.

Meanwhile, the Koch brothers, American New World Order multibillionaires with a record of funding climate denial, laugh all the way to the bank, despite human misery as climate change takes a toll on Americans.

“It’s one thing to tell people global warming isn’t the source of their misery,” says Mother Jones his week. “It’s a lot harder to look them in the eye and tell them their problems aren’t that bad—especially if you’re relying on them to vote you into public office.

I’m on BIN so I don’t think these fires are real. They are projections made by the lizard aliens. They want to scare us with these fake, false flag protections of fire so they can steal that part of the US when people evacuate. I heard this through an implant they put in my head. Those bastards! AAAARRRGHHHHHHHH! AGGGGEEEEGGGH!

      • Deborah Dupre

Comic relief usually helps me. Thank you. Just one point – sacrifice zones are wanted and needed for the NWO. Oops…

    • M7

Luv the fear….global warming….cabal controlled! Check out the facts…Earth is cooling!

      • Deborah Dupre

Whoa. Watch out. I’l sic “My boy Paul” on ya. Never mind people like him and other real scientists, though.

Just buy what the Koch boys are spending millions for you to believe and to leave their fossil fuels alone. Who do you think funds the big “alternative” news sites pushing global change denial? Have you looked?

    • SuperMario

It’s not because of “Global Warming.”

      • Deborah Dupre

        Oh? Global cooling maybe?

    • wrebi

How can you say global warming when the earth is cooling and the weather is controlled with chemtrail spraying? If there’s dry weather, unusual storms, drought, flooding, etc…look no further than our own government for the blame. It’s all manipulation to control the masses and take every dime you have.

    • Telecoman

The hottest year on record was way back in 1936, so how are we warming? It is funny all of the models the GW (now climate change) people have NEVER match up with what the weather really does. As an Engineer I would toss out such a model if it is constantly wrong.

      • CrowPie

The majority of the weather issues are a direct result of the natural cycles of the sun. Years of warming….then years of cooling due to sun activity.

These studies have are very close to proving this theory. It is being heavily suppressed, likely by both sides.

        • Deborah Dupre

Yes – but humans could do quite a bit more to survive than they are doing. But then, that’s not what the earthly demons want, is it? So fostering their evil desires continues.

        • CrowPie

I like a clean house that is chemical free, because I have severe sensitivity to some chemicals. As far as I am concerned, cologne and perfume is pollution.

But I don’t expect everyone to agree or adjust their behaviors because of my preferences.

And yes….we could do a much better job of keeping our world pollution free, strictly on the basis that it is the right thing to do AND to prevent exacerbation of the problem of space weather changes.

“The majority of the weather issues are a direct result of the natural cycles of the sun. Years of warming….then years of cooling due to sun activity.”

You mean like everybody knew by the time they got out of grade school in the 60s?

        • paul brown

Crow Pie: I’m sorry you take umbrage. When I was referring to scientific illiteracy, I was talking about the general public. Most people don’t know the basics of chemistry and physics (including climate), biology (including evolution, mass extinction, and overpopulation), psychology, and the sciences that support them like anthropology and paleontology. I have no idea what you know about science, but your remarks about sun cycles were incorrect.
I’m a scientist, educated for twelve years at MIT, University of Chicago, and Cornell, who has spent forty years as a brain researcher and fourteen years studying overpopulation, mass extinction, and global warming by reading the work of professionals in those fields. Scientists are trained to think critically and to correct people’s misconceptions (I was a professor, so I’m a committed educator as well).
Disciplined thinkers don’t take umbrage, they appreciate new information and are willing to change their minds when evidence shows they are wrong. The evidence is plentiful for my claims, and you can look it up by consulting the excellent web sites provided by genuine climatologists and ecologists who are doing the actual research, rather than others who aren’t publishing in the peer-reviewed literature.
If people don’t want to accept what the great majority of scientists are begging the world to understand, then they merit the label “unscientific.” If people hate science so much, they might as well admit it, and examine why they do.
Again, I don’t know what your scientific background is but don’t be insulted when someone tries to provide information and comments about the state of education.

      • paul brown

That’s a lie being spread by the deniers. They are helped by the strong antiscience movement in this country that prefers to peddle climate denial for the benefit of corporations, and creationism for the benefit of religious hucksters.

If Americans were less scientifically illiterate and had been taught how to think critically, they would keep themselves informed and reject this kind of nonsense. Who keeps their kids out of college and corrupts higher education? The corporations and people who are afraid to have their ignorant prejudices contradicted.

Globally speaking, the last ten or twelve years have been the hottest in recorded history, and proxy evidence from ice and ocean cores indicate both CO2 and global temperature haven’t been this high in at least 800,000 years, possibly millions. There have been many “natural cycles of the sun” in that time and none have caused this now or in the past. The physics is undeniable. This is the first time that high CO2 has preceded warming, and the CO2 can only be attributed to human activities.

        • CrowPie

“If Americans were less scientifically illiterate”

I take umbrage to that statement. I have done many things in my life (so far) and am far from scientifically illiterate.

I happen to be very involved in the study of this science, and am justified in my right to believe the evidence presented and to state that belief.

Your insults will not gain you listeners to your argument.

        • CrowPie

          Paul,

You said and I quote, “Disciplined thinkers don’t take umbrage,”

If that is the case, and you are an expert in psychology (you listed nearly EVERY discipline available) then you must admit that your behavior (calling other scientist liars and commenters “scientifically ignorant”) is evidence of your having taken umbrage to hypothesis’ that differ with your line of thinking.

That would mean that you are less sophisticated in your reasoning than you previously believed. And since that’s true…you being a mere mortal…..you can also be Wrong.

    • paul brown

It’s global warming deniers like these who have gotten us in so deep we will probably not be able to stop the self-perpetuating process that is now in motion. Congratulations.

      • CrowPie

Actually….your missing my point. The more erratic the sun behaves, the worse the weather will be here.

        • paul brown

And I’m afraid you’re missing my point. I like many of your comments and respect many of your views, but the science is very clear on the influence of the sun. It does have its effect, but it is nowhere as great as what would be necessary to account for the present warming. This is not a debatable topic from the standpoint of science. There are only a handful of professional climatologist who would endorse sun cycles, volcanoes, or other non-anthropogenic causes for the present warming, which is affecting everyplace on the planet in one way or another.

And I’m afraid the sun’s behavior is not becoming more erratic.

Our species has evolved to behave in certain ways that were advantageous in the short run (around a million years), but not in the long run. We have been too successful at what was originally to our advantage, when our numbers were small. But like other species that drove themselves extinct, our numbers have exploded and we are killing our own habitat.

Example: Scientists long wondered why there were waves of localized mass extinctions around the world at different times in different places. Eventually anthropological research showed that these extinctions occurred shortly after humans arrived in their first migrations to these places. We never learned not to destroy biodiversity, not even when the first people colonized Hawaii less than two thousand years ago, or even when Western Europe colonized the Americas.

And we are still doing the same things today. It is human behavior, shaped by eons of biological and cultural evolution, that is destroying our habitat, and it is that same mindset that makes it so hard for many to accept the reality and change our behavior. When we finally do change, if we do, it will probably be too late. The point of no return may have already passed, in terms of global warming, overpopulation, or mass extinction (any one of which can do us in) but we have to hope that we can change our behavior enough, and soon enough, to save ourselves.

        • CrowPie

No the sun is not doing much of anything right now…..but your statement that this is not a debatable topic is wrong.

It is very debatable. I once AGREED with your side…….so stop trying to school me…..I used to say the same things.

You have become emotionally involved in this subject, and have become unapproachable because of it.

“It is hard to convince one whose livelihood depends upon his NOT being convinced.”

          Good day.

    • paul brown

One last comment to CrowPie. I’m sorry you’ve joined the ranks of AGW deniers, but that’s your choice of course. I hope you will live a long and happy life, and you will have a chance to see whether your views are wise or not.

I do get emotionally involved when I see wrong behavior that could be avoided, to the betterment of all. Sorry about that. I can’t convince myself not to care.

As for my not being open to changing my mind, I’m a scientist. Scientists change their minds all the time, on the basis of new evidence or improved reasoning. I’ve done it many times, and I gather you have too on occasion.

If people won’t listen to me it’s their loss, not mine. I’m an old man, I won’t be here to see the worst of it although it’s getting worse fast. But I care for humanity – especially the younger generation and those to follow who are in such great peril.

Acting to curb the problems of global warming, mass extinction, and overpopulation can only help them, not harm them, and at the least would preclude the same problems further down the road if my perception of those problems is overly pessimistic. Simple arithmetic shows we can’t accelerate environmental harm forever in a finite world.
