Historic Rains And Flooding On Long Island Over 13" Of Rainfall In Less Than 12 Hours

It has been rather dry in the center of the Island this summer.All that changed dramatically this morning.With tremendous monsoon like downpours.I never heard rain come down so hard as it did this morning.I tried to sleep through it but it was difficult.I woke up briefly at 8:30am to look outside and the whole road was covered.I knew it was a lot of rain but didn’t know it was this much.I figured 5 or 6 inches of rain fell.I am right in on the edge of where the heaviest rain fell.I put an empty coffee container outside before bed, it only holds 5 inches so it was full to the top.I should have put a five gallon bucket out there.

Accuweather is reporting that Long Island commuters had to deal with intense flooding as over 13″ inches of rain fell in such a short amount of time.In less than 12 hours on the Island we recieved a whole summers worth the rain.To bad I’m a night owl, I would have loved to have gone out and taken some video of it all.
