Pacific Northwest Braces For Storms This Week As Northern California Gets Hit First

Weather Alert Central.com – The Pacific Northwest states of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho will be seeing a major increase in severe thunderstorm activity starting tomorrow and lasting for a couple days thereafter.  This will be the most widespread storm event in the region since last Fall.

The previous article has predicted the CA and Southern OR event correctly, and another article called for this event … this is the follow-up article saying it’s going to happen.

A similar scenario hit last year when a large upper level low hit the area … however this one is slightly different.  It has more moisture in the low levels, which means that this particular storm system will generate a lot of flooding.  As such we may need to issue a Flood Watch, but areas within that may also require a severe thunderstorm watch.  Trends are being monitored extremely closely.

Storms should start across OR tonight and move into Seattle by early morning as an area of positive vorticity advects in and strengthens.  Could see the first metro Seattle storms as early as the morning on Tuesday.

Additional storms will hit the OR/WA/ID areas tomorrow through Thursday.  This is a prolonged event and some areas will be hit over and over again.

A lot of lightning will be recorded across the region so when the thunder roars … head indoors!
