Overnight on Wednesday a storm system out of the west will bring up a warm front into the area.  This warm front will interact with the arctic air in place to bring wintry weather for some, with ice likely in the Northern Willamette Valley, Oregon.

The arctic air is in the area at the current time with temperatures in the 30s across the Central/Eastern Oregon and Washington zones.  It’s a cold one out there and the warm-front (nevermind the warm sounding) will go into the area on Wednesday night into Thursday night, a 24 hour period.  Snowfall is very likely across the Bend, OR areas, including all of Central/Eastern Oregon overnight on Wednesday into Thursday.  Heavy snowfall at times may bring several inches of snowfall to these areas (possibly higher).

Freezing rain that ‘might’ need a freezing rain advisory for the Portland areas, southward to just north of Eugene, OR in the Northern Willamette Valley will be likely on Thursday.  Any follow-up alerts to that will be given separately.

This was all predicted in the previous article for your Sunday weekly forecast.  Sunday weekly forecast clearly outlined this type of system coming into the area.  So this article is just a follow up to the previous forecast call.  Snowfall should be seen across Bend, Burns, Eastern OR, heading into Southern and Eastern Washington as well, nearing some of the Southern areas of the Spokane, WA areas Thursday into Thursday night.

There is also a hint of a chance that snowfall may go up toward the Sea-Tac areas on Thursday.  This will be monitored should further updates be needed.

Boise, ID will get a bit of snowfall on Thursday, but not much.

The rest of Southwest OR will only get rainfall with this storm.

Another storm system is scheduled for end week.  Details will come with it as this storm hits
