No More Fear, No More Tears - How to break through abuse for women once and for all

Aventura, FL- September 10, 2012 – A recent survey conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum reveals that domestic violence is up due to the bad economy. “56% of 700 law enforcement agencies mentioned that the down economy is causing an increase in domestic violence– up from 40% in a similar survey conducted in 2010”
These statistics are confirmed by the FBI, which also indicates an overall decrease in violence nationwide, but an increase in domestic-related calls. This increase in domestic violence actually generates an increase in the procurement of temporary restraining orders.

Domestic violence is prevalent and in all communities, irrespective of the income, ethnicity, culture, gender, or age.

Another survey reveals dating violence and abuse increasing also among college students. “43% of female students report having ever experienced violent or abusive dating behaviors, and 22% report actual physical abuse, sexual abuse or threats of physical violence” Source “Liz Claiborne Inc.’s Love Is Not Abuse 2011 College Dating Violence and Abuse Poll,”

Fear is present almost everywhere. It is natural emotion of human beings. A relationship is meant to be filled with love, care and trust. It is supposed to be a place of pace and joy, not a place of hurt.

But for some women, fear is part of their everyday life, due to abuse, a difficult relationship or divorce. They are scared to speak out and face tremendous barriers in leaving abusers and staying safe. They are lost as far as what to do, how to do it and what rights they have against their partners or husbands.

For all women in South Florida who experience abuse, the seminar “No More Fear – No More Tears” is the place to be on September 20th at the Riverside Hotel in  Fort Lauderdale, FL.

To increase public awareness information on domestic violence, Biba Pedron, business consultant – organizer of the event, Stephanie G. Morrow, Esq., an experienced Family Law and Immigration Attorney and Somy Ali, founder of No More Tears, join forces to show the tools to break through abuse for women once and for all.

Biba Pedron said “10 years ago in New York, I was in a relationship that turned into verbal abuse within few months until the day, that my boyfriend at the time threatened me with a kitchen knife and I had to call 911 to escape. I was lucky to have the right support around me to walk away from this relationship that same day, and I never turned back. A lot of women don’t have this support, don’t know where to turn or what to do and are so scared that they just stay and violence becomes their quotidian.”

Stephanie Morrow, Esq,  will cover the cycle of abuse and the legalities of getting a restraining order.
Somy Ali will explain why she started No More Tears, a 501 ©3 not-for-profit organization which already rescued over 200 victims of domestic violence and how the organization provide individualized assistance to victims in the U.S.

Stephanie Morrow said “Over 20 years of experience in litigating domestic violence” matters”

Somy Ali emphasizes on the issue of women being brought to the U.S. and then abused by their partners. “We work with numerous women that are abused and put up with the abuse not just due to the fear, but also the risk of being deported and losing their children that are born in the U.S. It is truly shocking; the abuse they have suffered due to the fear of being deported is unimaginable.”
