Media Quiet About San Antonio Theater Shooting

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

On Sunday December 17, 2012, 2 days after the CT shooting, a man went to a restaurant in San Antonio to kill his X-girlfriend. After he shot her, most of the people in the restaurant fled next door to a theater. The gunman followed them and entered the theater so he could shoot more people. He started shooting and people in the theater started running and screaming. It’s like the Aurora, CO theater story plus a restaurant!

Now aren’t you wondering why this isn’t a lead story in the national media along with the school shooting?

There was an off duty county deputy at the theater. SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone. So since this story makes the point that the best thing to stop a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun, the media is treating it like it never happened.

Only the local media covered it. The city is giving her a medal next week. Just thought you’d like to know.

Agenda revealed!  If you had any doubts that the media was pushing for this and who their masters were, doubt no longer.  This is spooky.  Alot of what you read in the ‘conspiracy world’ is bull but there IS alot of truth too..   You just have to sort out the facts yourself.  -Mort

I feel this wasn’t a lead story because another gun kept him from killing 20 people or more this time. If media wasn’t so obsessed with disarming America, they would have run this as a success story in support of out 2nd amendment Rights. The Mainstream Media is only going to demonize guns, they are not going to support guns as a solution to our problems. When in fact if more people carried guns for personal protection and criminals saw more news like this, they would think twice before drawing their weapons on innocent victims. But a unarmed population is no threat to the criminal.

        • jvt321

This guy was killed by a police officer. A trained police officer, not an everyday citizen. Quite different. I have read many accounts, seen on the news, stories like this. This was two days after the CT killings. The media was still filled with that story all the stuff about the the killers real name and so on. There’s no conspiracy. Plenty of the media are gun owners.

        • Harry Nut

Gee, jvt321….. That would make a good case to start training citizens!!!! I’m still trying to verify this story in full before I draw a conclusion…..

Our world is teetering from being so “top heavy” from the guilt of it’s rebellion that it is readying to fall over.

        I’m being quite literal here….read Isaiah 24:20

Things are readying to get so bad that, as God’s Word says….

“Except that those days were shortened, no flesh would remain alive upon the earth”.

The faster the enemies of God succeed at their wicked schemes, the swifter their demise.

Considering that the birth, life, and ultimate destiny of this globe and it’s peoples were accurately forewritten in God’s word, and considering also that our Father promised that the wheat would grow up with the weeds, to be separated at the end, I’d say that the present Signs & signposts prove the lateness of the hour!

God promised that a “remnant” would be saved. Such is the way throughout History of our Father’s hand at work. He would that ALL be saved through repentance and obedience, but reality shows that not all can be counted worthy. There is an old saying to the effect that ‘God uses one half of the people to test the other half’. There is some truth there. Now is not the place and time to fully examine even a modicum of evidence that our nation, indeed the world is undergoing fulfillment of God’s Word to the letter.

I will however, if allowed, leave your readers with much to chew on regarding the self evident realities of the shared situation in which the world finds itself today. One has only to remove a dollar bill from one’s back pocket to find a six pointed star ‘gloriously’ emblazoned above the eagle. It symbolizes that “they” rule “OVER” america. What is the TRUE history of the six pointed star? Who is it connected to and why? Who is really in who’s back pocket?

Google – six pointed star mark

Google – 666 talents of gold

        Google – Shriner lucifer

        Google – lucifer telescope

The story “Huge Media Blackout regarding earth and moon orbital changes” used to be hosted here at BIN but the story was deleted several times. This information is of vital importance to all who wish to make informed decisions regarding the lives of their loved ones and themselves. Many were warned, yet because of the “HUGE MEDIA BLACKOUT” when the great flooding on the missouri river took place last year as a direct result of the markedly increased solar radiation now hitting the northern latitudes in spring and summer months, were enough warned and who knew beforehand??? I attended the army core of engineers meeting after the disaster and addressed the Truth. The cowards sat silent and guilty, and there is no way they couldn’t have known well before hand as I and many others knew and tried to warn others.

Study and see that Luke 21:25-28 is in fulfillment at this time. And see that when God says that the heavenly bodies will shake, and there will be signs in sun, moon and stars, while the nations will be in anguish over the great agitation of the oceans…..He Means It. Isaiah 24:20, He means it. Revelation 16:8, He means it!

Christ also means it when He says, “When you see the beginning of these things, STAND UP and LIFT UP your heads, for your redemption draws near”. TOO many are instead doing just the opposite, sitting down and hanging their heads! IF ONE IS AFRAID of what is coming upon the world, it is only because, deep down, you believe YOU HAVE IT COMING to you!

DO YOU? Kneel and repent of sin, live STRONG in HIS WORD, His SON, Jesus Christ, and be forgiven, and you will instead find GREAT REASON to stand and raise your heads, even your voices, to God and to your fellow man.

Yeah, that’s all we need just people randomly walking around the street carrying hand guns and things…what could possibly go wrong?! wow….

Your name is perfect! If you notice, it was an off duty deputy, not some random fool off the street that went to kmart and purchased a gun.

    • Equalizer

Bulls-eye, the only answer is a concealed weapons carry by law abiding citizens.
“An armed society is a civil society”

      • Vladimir

If we are to go around quoting Heinlein, let’s get it right. “An armed society is a polite society.” Otherwise the Balance of Terror would have made the world civilized.

        • Equalizer

          My apologies

        • XDM40

In context, Equalizer’s use of ‘civil’ conveyed the same meaning as ‘polite’, but Vladimir is correct — a quote is a quote.
          =====================
          civ·il
          adjective /ˈsivəl/

Of or relating to ordinary citizens and their concerns, as distinct from military or ecclesiastical matters
          - civil aviation

(of disorder or conflict) Occurring between citizens of the same country

Relating to private relations between members of a community; noncriminal
          - a civil action

Of or relating to aspects the civil (or code) law derived from European systems

          Courteous and polite
          - we tried to be civil to him

(of time measurement or a point in time) Fixed by custom or law rather than being natural or astronomical
          - civil twilight starts at sunset

        • Mayhem

@XDM40….. Equalizer wasn’t half as offensive as you cutting and pasting the dictionary for us and you don’t even acknowledge your source. You, XDM40, are the one who should be apologising.

While you are being obsequious and since you obviously know how to access an online dictionary do go and look up all the big words: then you won’t raise my ire near so much.

An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life. Robert A. Heinlein.

So people; now we are so bored we are being pedantic?

This story also fails! This “off-duty” officer didn’t just happen to be there. She was hired as a security guard.

        • JAy

Juiceboy you tout a liberal rag as proof that you are right just remember there is a very famous quote from Lincoln “Don’t trust every ting you read on the internet.” The fact is a armed gun men was stopped by someone with a firearm. If your parents raised you to be a victim then by all means don’t carry a firearm but I was raise with morals, respect and that little thing call self preservation.

      • lindarosemary

patt, there are cases like this that happen everyday, in San Antonio alone. You have to look elsewhere for your news besides the regime’s canned news.

      • AllEdgesFall

        Patt,

there are many many examples of citizans protectings many lives with thier self-owned hand guns! Too, many to list. the media is only re-acting to the liberal twist. why don’t you pay attention for once in your life.

      • Brad Staats

Patt…if you are going to make comments like that, you really need to know the actual statistics. There are many showing that casualties are 1000% less when an armed gunman (bad guy) is stopped by a good guy with a gun. It is so troublesome that emotions drive about 50% of this country rather than statistics. I also don’t agree with concealed carry. I’d rather have open carry so people are not so “freaked” out by an exposed weapon.

      • wernerpd

Yeah, you’re probably right. Notwithstanding that, I’ll raise your exception by 6,480 and raise you. Call or fold?

        This s not an example
A cop shot he shooter where guns belong and the shooter didn’t have an AR15
And on top of that, HE BOUGHT THE GUN LEGALLY
until we shoot people we are all “GOOD GUYS WITH GUNS”

      • Jim In Montana

There are more than a million such incidences every year (Dept of Justice data). Yet, you’d not know it, because the whores in the MSM do not report when “good things” happen unless it is a lost dog found, or a cat feeding rats from its teats.

    • IntheMorning

Legal open carry of handguns is the best defence, and I wish everyone had one to stop crime. The problem is in a heated argument, some people could pull out the gun and the worst case scenerio could happen. Shame, really.

      • The Phantom

Does anyone see a problem with drunks and druggies carrying a gun? We couldn’t win the war on drugs and neither could we win a war to ban guns and who decides who is stable enough to carry a gun and who is not? :???:

        • Anonymous

Drunks and druggies usually do not have guns because they trade them for what ails them. Those druggies that have them are the ones that would be shot if used for a crime. There are police who do drugs and rob citizens too. We can’t just bubble wrap the world to avoid sharp edges.I grew up in the most heavily armed town in America and there was not much crime.Everyone had guns hanging from the racks in the back window.Big deterrent.

        • Jelula

Note that the person who responded and shot the shooter was a trained peace officer and not just any citizen with a gun. While there certainly are non-peace officers who will keep a cool head and use good judgement, you can’t assume everyone carrying a gun will remain cool & collected and have the ability to accurately aim in a crowded theater or any stressful circumstance.

Furthermore, no one is seriously proposing to BAN guns. The emphasis is to expand background checks to cover all gun purchases and to once more make it illegal for civilians to own rapid-fire weapons with large capacity clips which are not appropriate for hunting – the primary reason, IMO, for owning a rifle. My fear about everyone carrying a gun, whether it be open carry or concealed, is the number of knee-jerk idiots who are all too likely to go vigilante.

    • Domi

What the author fails to see is the other side of the coin. Yes, the goodie had a gun and was able to stop the baddie who also had a gun. But what if the baddie never had a gun? There wouldn’t be this situation where an ex-girlfriend was shot, where people were running for their lives, and where an off duty sheriff had to kill another person.

      • Anonymous

Because it would end up being a knife fight.

The yellers at the paper would then claim we have to ban steak knives! Then no one will eat steak anymore.

Next time a massacre will occur using a bat, then the yellers at the paper will start saying ban bats, then no one can play baseball anymore.

So, lemme see, no steak, no baseball and Americans will be mad enough to start shooting somebody wouldn’t ya say???????

Maybe we should start banning the yellers at the paper, huh???????

      • Janie

Domi your comment is idiotic, I’m sorry. You think «baddies» won’t have guns if they ban them from the citizens who register them? Is that really how the world works in your head? You are either very young, or mentally deficient. Educate yourself honey, get a reality check. The world you live in doesn’t exist. It’s pretty and it’s pink but it doesn’t exist. You, and people who think like you ought to see a professional. Liberalism is a mental disease…. read Dr Lyle Rossiter

      • Anonymous

Yeah, just like Prohibition. How did that work out? You want total gun control, just look south of the border at one of the most gun controlled countries on the Continent. More victims from drug violence than the Iraq war. Your dream of a disarmed society is the dream of a defenseless society.

        • Authentica

I’m in Australia, & yes all of the good law-abiding citizens faithfully handed over their guns… We have shoot-outs all the time in broad daylight now, even in shopping centres. It was never this bad before the gun ban (caused by the Port Arthur False Flag where a mentally retarded man supposedly killed 35 people in about 2 minutes). Criminals can easily access weapons through corrupt customs officials, etc so the baddies still have guns & they’re more audacious knowing no one is likely to turn one on them!

      • AllEdgesFall

then this would of never been a story! Grow up.

      • The Phantom

Do you really see everyone just turning over their weapons? If you do you really have issues!

      • The Phantom

I would be lmao if this weren’t such an important matter. They did outlaw illegal drugs and they are more easily accessable than candy.

      • Ozeve

Domi, I live in Australia. We are not allowed to carry around what few guns we are allowed to own. However, criminals seem to have no problem shooting at houses, rival gang members, police, anyone they want really. A ban will never stop those who want to do the wrong thing and just leaves the rest of us defenceless. Please don’t buy into the whole “ban guns for your safety rubbish.” It didn’t work here.

        • Ani

Thank you for giving your example. It makes a great difference coming from someone already living in a “gun free” society. Your country is not the only one. Was it China or Japan where recently a man went in to a primary school and used a meat cleaver to kill children….and adults?

The point being that one can use anything as a weapon if their intent is to harm people. Evil can always find its way around regulations. Society can’t stop evil intent, but it can deter it. Taking a means of defense from law abiding citizens is not the answer and a society gun ban is not the way to go.

As another example, my brother works as a prison guard and prisoners (who have no gun privis) have attacked guards using plastic eating utensils, writing pens/pencils, have taken pieces from objects given to them to use (such as beds).

The rights and freedom of law abiding citizens should not be restricted.

      • DezRAT

What if’s….What if’s…..how about what if Olooser wasn’t in the WH???? America would be BETTER off……and the BS comment you made wouldn’t be on this site…..Oh, he’d have another weapon to kill the girlfriend if not a gun……

      • FairnessisonlyforDems

Talk about living in a world of make-believe. Bad guys should not get guns?… People get your heads out of that dark place. Just because a law is on paper does not mean that criminals comply. Law abiding citizens are the ones that comply so disarm them and we are all F—–!
Rights come with responsibilities which we all must practice.

        • Coopers Mom

I agree. If we, as law abiding citizens, had our right to gun ownership taken away, then only the outlaws would have guns! I saw something on FB very recently that said something like: “Gun ownership is your right, and it’s your choice. So is believing in God. However, if someone breaks into your house (intending to fatally harm you), the first two things you are going to do is call someone who owns a gun (and has legal authority to use it) and pray that they get there in time.” Evil does exist. And yes, anything can be used as a weapon. Do we banish cars because of those who killed others by drunk driving?

        • Henri

Why would you want to be at a dangerous, dark place late at night?
So if you do, I guess you want to walk around with a gun drawn?

      • wernerpd

Imagine such a utopian world. Sorry, but it doesn’t exist – not now, not ever. Remember Cain, yes, that’s right – he slew Abel. As much as you would really love to have no evil in the world, it exists all around you. You can play pretend it is not there, but it will not stop evil from doing what evil does best. Guns are just implements (tools) to be used for either good or evil. The same holds true for nearly any tool, such as a car. A car can and usually does do good for us everyday. We use it to drive to work, pick up groceries and myriad tasks. It can also be used to do evil. Place that car in the hands of a drunk, careless, or evil driver and it can definitely be used to mow people down. Need some visuals?

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOYWt7vlz2E

Why there is not a world outcry to ban cars just amazes me, given that they kill more people every year than any type of gun massacres. Of course for a utopian, this issue is never about the guns, it is always about the control.

    • Marc

Nice try. This was reported by the AP the day of the incident. That ain’t local media.

      • Anonymous

AP carries lots of stuff the $1500 suits reading the teleprompters don’t clue us in on. For most followers of the exalted leader and the propagandists, if it doesn’t show up on the evening news it doesn’t exist.

        • Marc

Showed up on CBS news the night of the incident and numerous other outlets. Nice try.

      • Anon

I agree Marc … it was on the CBS news, in the Huffington Post and several other non-local media. The point of the article … see the title … is that non-local media didn’t cover it, which is just not so. Also, another major point, to me, is that the “good” person carrying a gun was a trained police officer, not an untrained assault weapon carrying citizen.

    • Steelrat

I though Texas was an open carry state? So no one but a security officer did any thing. Seems like open carry is worthless because most of those people do not have the courage it takes to step up when a problem occurs.
Oh and no one got killed!

No Texas is not an open carry state….guess the CCL holders were not at the movies that night at that theater…..Oh, some establishments here in Texas have a “No Carry” or “No CHL” allowed signs posted outside of the building….I avoid business with places like that….

    • AntNOLA

I was in a motel last night doing cocaine for six hours straight until my heart beat out of my chest and I fell into cardiac arrest. Thankfully, the dude in the room next door was an EMT with a defribulator in his suitcase. So I guess cocaine isnt *really* a problem. If anything, this article has me thinking it’d be awesome if we made everyone that owned a gun go through a police academy. The off-duty officer was TRAINED for such an occassion. That is why this story had a happy ending. Now, let’s talk about the mentally unstable guy that tried to murder his ex. Is that part of the story not cause for concern?

      • XDM40

I understand your post beginning from “If anything, this article…” to the end, but don’t get anything before that. so, in your story is cocaine a metaphor for gun? :???:

    • lindarosemary

I live in SA, and I can tell you that if it were not for this off duty cop chasing that bozo down, he would have done a lot more harm. The main stream media don’t want any examples of how an armed person was able to stop a massacre, because you know this would dampen their zeal and influence on tyrannical gun laws.

    • youngneill

      just WOW

    • sunny_032005

OK but here is the problem I have with this story. The article says that the off duty officer shot the man before he had the chance to kill anyone….so if he didnt have the chance to kill anyone else then how does that make it compare to the CO movie theater shooting?? And secondly, the CT shooting was HUGE so of course not much other media was going to get much other news through 2 days later. Not doubting the significance of the people involved or anyone who was killed, but the article even reads that the shooter was killed before he “had a chance to kill anyone”. And im not pro gun control by any means and that officer should be recognized as a hero, but heres a great example of a misleading article with a very biased political view.

      • Freewilloffering

Ok Sunny…..let me play sped teachers aid and bring you along with this one:

A bunch of political lunatic jerks stage a shooting as an excuse to take away guns…to make us all safer. A ton of kids shot by a boy who can shoot down scores of people..with guns that were not his..that were hard to operate…in a state with the 3rd harshest gun laws…where not one is armed..and Mainstream Media screams for legal citizen disarmament for our safety ..no questions asked..all we need to do is ban guns from law abiding citizens and voila ..were safe!

Now a real manic runs in and gets popped by an armed person-many real lives savede–no media to be seen nationally …Understand now?

    • TDubbya

Except Dec 17th wasn’t a Sunday so at least get the facts right before posting. If a simple detail like that is wrong I start to question everything that follows.

Media ‘quiet’? ‘SHE pulled out her gun and shot the man 4 times before he had a chance to kill anyone.’ We heard the story but because it too logically solves the problem of murderers, it’s relinquished to those of us smart enough to resolve our own circumstances in our steadfast wait for our saviour to return.

I get over 23 million google hits of news on this story – liberal bastions CBS and Huffington Post among the first few.

I only checked the first 15 pages, but yup: they are all about these same San Antonio theatre shootings. Most were reported within hours of the shooting. And all I looked into cited the heroic security guard.

I can’t find anything indicating the girlfriend suffered anything worse than a terrifying text message. You have her being shot – not-quite implying she’d been killed. As I read it, she was not there at all – had phoned in a warning after reading the text..

So newly-jilted bf texts ex that he’s so unhappy he’s going to go shoot someone at their work place. He chases employees out the back door, firing all the while. Fortunately he’s got a Glock rather than an automatic weapon and a pocket full of 30-round clips. Heading next door to the theater, he shoots one poor fleeing man in the back (superficially, thank goodness), and sprays the theatre ceiling with with gunfire before being pursued, cornered and shot by a very brave security guard.

That’s what I got from many contemporaneous reports. The reporting, for once, seemed well in proportion to the magnitude of the events, with the media not milking it for all it was worth – for once. And you reckon this is a ~bad~ thing? A conspiracy, even?

Anyone read that “Morgan Freeman” hoax letter following Sandy Hook shootings? The author (whoever he was) blamed the media for glorifying these sickos, naming names and and going on about it in hysterical detail and at length. Talk about damned if you do and damned if you don’t.

Though in the end tragedy was averted, I’ve no doubt the media WOULD have flogged it for days if their plates weren’t already full to overflowing with the heartbreak at Sandy Hook. And if they had done so – this would have been right, and good?

And you know, I’ve never noticed any shortage in the U.S. media of stories where bad guys get shot by good guys, be they cops, soldiers, or security guards like Ms. Castellano.

So – other than misreporting and distorting the facts re the supposed shooting of the girlfriend to make the alleged non-reporting seem that much more sinister and outrageous, and other than claiming the story was not reported by the media (ignoring the mainstream reports and some 23 million other sources) – and finding conspiracy in the media’s failure to rehash this averted tragedy for days or weeks – what’s your point?

    • Henri

To all the Second Amendment Cowboys out here:
Yes, it is good to have a good person with a gun around to stop the shooter. Like an Officer.
So it is a good idea that people should wear a gun?
NO! Because anyone gan go nuts at anytime. Playing God, deciding who should live and who not. Who has that right? What if depression hits someone with a clean record and decides to start shooting? This is what you are seeing now. If guns were prohibited, that person would carry a knife if he would want to kill. See the point?
Ok, that person will then probably be shot, but not before that person killed some people. So these some people are not important?
And why is it that it is mostly uneducated white trailer trash that you see buying up all these guns. at shows? Just an observation…freedom to bear arms? How much freedom you have when you look into a gun barrel?
Imagine the future… Everyone sitting at a Starbucks, eying each other with mistrust: who is going to shoot first?
      Pathetic.

      • Coopers Mom

First off Henri. How would you know if these people at gun shows are uneducated white trailer trash? Do you attend gun shows? I do. I am also educated; a bachelor’s degree from a liberal northern university in Connecticut no less; the 3rd harshest gun law state! And I not only attend gun shows, I target practice. Do you consider yourself as having more freedom when it is you looking at the wrong end of a gun barrel of that same depressed individual with a clean record who has decided to wreak havoc before he takes his own life and others (such as yourself) with him? Do you really believe that criminals obey laws? Those who shoot their victims during robberies and home invasions? Do you think they actually applied for a license like I have, had government mandated permit to own training like I did? Learned every gun use law before signing an agreement with the government that I am responsible and having my background checked? I think not! Yes, Henri. Your Starbucks scenario is a good one. I can only say that it would be better to shake hands and say have a nice day should there be a disagreement in such a scenario, because you never know who will draw their weapon first and who is a better shot than you, him, her, or them. “An armed society is a polite society—Heinlein.

        • Henri

Coopers Mom….Heinlein is also a SIENCE FICTION writer, and also just a person with an opinion.

Furthermore, I see the pictures on the news of people that look like trailertrash. But you are right, let’s just say that 95% are citizens obeying the law and 5% is white trailertrash, Neo nazi’s, or ultra religious right, or left.

My point is that I DID look into the barrel of a gun on Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro many years ago. A group of about 5 men stand around you in half a circle so the police could not see. I never felt more robbed of my freedom! They let me go as I (stupidly) refused to give money.
It happens so fast that you are always too late to draw your own gun.
All the more i say that I wish he would not be able to get a gun in the first place. But this is a robbery attempt.

But the people who do these shootings all seem to be white young disturbed boys with I believe mostly clean records.
But you can not compare these people with the hard criminals that rob a bank or a house or individual.
They are after money, rape etc. But not mass killing. Of course these type criminals must be stopped and therefore I can understand that people have a handgun locked JUST in their house, especially if you live in a dodgy neighborhood. I personally would rather have a Rottweiler.

As a trained gun owner such as yourself, and even if you sign an agreement with the government that you are responsible and having your background checked, I would leave a Starbucks if I would see you entering with a gun in your holster. Because if I would be there with my kids and it just so happens that one day before you had some thing trigger your head into a severe depression, and you decide that you want to take your life and that of others, all these agreements you signed and your checked background do not matter anymore. A bullet from a trained, legal weapon is I believe just as deadly as one from an illegal gun?
That’s the point I am trying to make. You usually can’t see on the outside in what state someone’s mind is.
Do you think it is normal to have people sitting at a Starbucks with a gun in their holsters? Expose children to that danger? Have everyone be on edge? All the time? Everywhere? Is that the society you want to live in? Mistrust each other, everyone? Or why not make everyone draw their gun in the Starbucks? Enjoy your Latte! Reminds me of a western movie. Who will shoot first? Or what will happen at the Safeway in an hour?
These gunlaws are made in the time of the wild west, and when slavery was abandoned, and the white people were scared of the black people taking revenge. Sadly, many whites in America still hate black people, but that is another story.

You’re confused because 3/4 of this story is total bull. He didn’t shoot his ex-girlfriend and go into a crowded theater to shoot at others. He was chasing his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend and the boyfriend ran into the theater where the only person there was an off duty cop that was hired as a security guard. The security guard did shoot the guy, but didn’t kill him.

    • domzig

It was an off-duty deputy, not some right-wing gun enthusiast that we were all so lucky to have walking around.

      • Bo Dill

I’m curious, how do you know the off-duty deputy isn’t a right-wing gun enthusiast? I suppose you think the left-wing idiots will do anything to protect you other than take every right from you that can’t be controlled.

    • beastcloud

I see an article about two people being shot.

Those who make justification of violence breed violence.

    • MyOpinionCounts2

Sure, lets ALL carry guns, that way when someone reaches into their pocket to get our phone the next person will think we are reaching for a gun and shoot us. That’ll solve the problem.

      • Henri

Or people reaching for their phone and instead pulling out their gun and shooting themselves in the head.

    • d_wild4real

This wasn’t about a good person with a gun triumphing over a bad one. It’s about the accomplishment of our tax dollars. We shouldn’t have to place gun everyone’s hands when we pay taxes to be served and protected. Law enforcement doing their job and being recognized for their domestic heroism. This story was most likely ignored because celebrating local law enforcement ISN’T political, it’s just generally good news that our system works when it’s done right. The truth is most cops are fat and out of shape, they waste time harassing people and are too afraid to do anything without 15 other cops because they lack the courage and ability to. It’s great that a woman did this because many men would have stood by and called for back-up. I’d be glad to share her story in hopes that it with inspire more law to lead with a presence and exhibit bravery like she did.

    • Logic and sane

Seems pretty simple to me! Before being able to buy a gun you have to go through a class to show you know what to do. The class can be offered by law enforcement or military. You have to be able to know how to load, unload, fire, safety issues, and basic target ability. After that you should be able to carry a gun if you want to. Could be like a driver’s license! Another thing is- nobody talks about the mass murder in Norway where 70 people got shot. I believe it was one or two years ago. Norway is a “gun free” society. How did that gun ban work out for them?

    • Kay

Interesting assertion seeing as this story was indeed reported by Huffington Post (12/17), CBS (12/17), and the Daily Beast (12/16). Way to beat the press! And the armed off-duty officer was WORKING as a security guard at the theater. I suspect this did not get the media attention that Connecticut did, because it didn’t involve the deaths of 20 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN, who were each shot 3-11 times. Lives are indeed saved every day by armed civilians (and I’m a fair shot myself, thanks very much), but let’s get the facts straight, and stay home if you can’t research your story properly. Ignorant babbling does little for a legitimate debate and does nothing but fuel the opponent’s argument.

    • LightandLife

      this is a hoax

    • thew

To add to this story, the shooting Oregon that very same week would have been much worse had an armed citizen not drawn his weapon. Witnesses verified that when a young male with a CCW drew his weapon, the perp retreated and committed suicide. The police chief there praised the gentleman for his actions, and issued a public announcement stating this is why firearms should not be demonized so.

      • RoscoP

The so called Oregon shooting turned out to be a hoax. Making up stories to prove a point only weakens your failed logic.

    • Zed13

It’s interesting that after the CT murders the public was crying for the media to stop sensationalizing events like this to deter publicity seeking lunatics from committing suicide this way. Now that the media has backed off people are outraged that it hasn’t been widely covered by media.

Quite frankly I think that this particular case supports the argument for less media coverage. If there is no ‘Blaze of Glory’, why bother taking innocent people with you?

    • TerryBluDo

I truly cannot believe how deluded you all are. Yeah guys, only more guns will fix the problem! How stupid are you really? The majority of idiots who support the 2nd amendment are rednecks who merely own a gun just so they can shoot some deer or other innocent animals in their backyards. More guns is not the solution at all. Look at Great Britain after Dunblane or Australia. You can’t blindly overlook statistics like those. I can’t help but puke in my mouth after reading some of the ignorant comments you guys have posted. “An armed America is a civilized America.” Hahaha, you’ve got to be joking. Let’s just allow everyone to carry guns. God only knows how many more psychopaths will complete their goals to annihilate numerous helpless people. WAKE UP YOU MORONS! Six year old children were mercilessly murdered and your only plan is to continue supporting these useless guns which many of you have probably never utilized for self-defense. You guys are sick bastards and truly depict the ideal American dumbass. You’re pathetic.

      • Henri

        Hear hear.

    • RoscoP

For anyone who cares about the facts. Here they are: The gunman’s girlfriend was a fellow employee. She did not go to work that day so the gunman fired a few shots and left the building, heading into the parking lot and shot a man in the lot then proceeded to the theater. It was at the theater that an off-duty deputy sheriff working as a security officer, shot the gunman. 1st….. This story was carried by CBS National News, Huffing Post, all the major news outlets in San Antonio, just to name a few. Google it. The idea that it is part of a left wing conspiicy just isn’t valid but no doubt the so-called ‘coverup’ will make it’s rounds among all the conspiracy seekers. 2nd….. This is a good example why PROPERLY TRAINED officers should have guns and not everybody who just wants the power of a gun. In a crowded theater, if many people had guns, anyone who would have been seen shooting a gun would have been the target of someone else with a gun. Even trained professionals have been known to shoot the first target with a gun. Many people along with the NRA believe the best answer is having more people with guns. America is already the most violent develped nation in the world 2nd only to South Africa and more guns is not the answer. Did we not learn anything from non violent examples of Ghandi, Martin Luther King. The strength of a nations lies within it’s people, not in guns. It’s “We the People,” not “We with Guns.” Our strenght is in our will for a better democracy. We like to proclaim that we are the greatest democracy in the world but unfortunately many Americans do not trust our democratically elected government. Instead we develop countless consiracy theories which turn out not to be true but we never admit it because we are too busy chasing new consiracies. Following the logic that “the only thing that stops a bad person with a gun is a good person with a gun,” then the US certainly can’t blame other countries for wanting to develope their own nuclear weapons to stop their perceived “bad” country which is proving themselves to be the most violent country in the world.

the shooter did not shoot his girlfriend. He shot 1 or two random people at the theater and shot at a pollce officer in a patrol vehicle in the parking lot. The Sheriff’s deputy at the theater was working off duty in full uniform, not a CHL carrier. Maybe the media didn’t cover this story as much because the shooter had a motive, a failed relationship.

    • juiceboy1671

Let me preface this by saying I am all for cops, guards, and other licensed gunmen owning a firearm. I am not, however, okay with the fact that someone my age (18) can go and purchase a weapon legally from a gun retailer with no questions asked. The fact of the matter is, there are a lot more gun related murders than gun related defenses. When most weapons in mass shootings are obtained legally, then how the hell can one advocate that individuals having the right to bear arms? Yes a killer can use a knife or a bat or something other than a gun, but it is a hell of a lot easier to incapacitate an individual who is carrying a knife rather than a gun. You don’t need a gun for self defense if you don’t have a gun pointing at you in the first place.

I also want to know how many of you like the idea of individuals always near you with a firearm that they can fire at will. You may talk big now claiming to be okay with that but, in actuality, a majority of us would be extremely uncomfortable with weapons designed to KILL people in the hands of most of our country’s citizens. Would you be okay with your child’s classmates in high school/college having weapons on them? Most of you would not. Why can’t us Americans accept the fact that we are a country of awful, violent culture and arming our citizens will probably lead to more harm than good?

The second amendment to our Constitution was written under drastically different conditions than our world today. There were no automatic rifles, handguns with deadly accuracy and firepower, and weapons designed to kill multiple people at once. In addition, it was written as a safeguard to have some form of protection from a foreign nation trying to invade our neophyte republic. We had no standing army at our inception, and to arm citizens was our best bet at preventing an attack from, most likely, Britain. Sure the Supreme Court may have ruled that the meaning of the amendment changed, but that decision was made by a human, just like you and me. Had that decision gone the other way and this incident or all the others prior/after would have occurred (which common sense would say many would NOT have occurred), MOST of you would not be here arguing about this issue and would rather have looked for ways to further restrict gun availability for the common citizen. Trying to tell me otherwise would mean you are lying to me and to yourselves.

Lastly, to the person who gave the example of Australia, I can give you tens of examples of other nations that have strict gun policies and have extremely limited gun related deaths. Japan, UK, Singapore, New Zealand, the list goes on and on.

      • Mayhem

        Oh really!

“I can give you tens of examples… [eg]… New Zealand…”

I’m from this country and i object to being left out of the all time list of crazed gun killers. Check your facts so you don’t appear stupid my man.

There are 200 countries in the world, Yes? Americastan is the tenth worst for gun related deaths and NZ only another ten places lower down the list; this leaves my little neck of the woods in the top 10% Hmm?

    • Jelula

Note that the person who responded and shot the shooter was a trained peace officer and not just any citizen with a gun. While there certainly are non-peace officers who will keep a cool head and good judgement, you can’t assume everyone carrying a gun will remain cool & collected and have good aim in a crowded theater.

    • Kevin F

An average of 17 people per day have been killed with a firearm in the USA since the shooting in Connecticut. That means about 275 people. Of those shootings, maybe 1 or 2 have had much of any national press coverage. Many get no more than a passing mention on a local news program or few lines in a local paper. And some don’t even get that. So in actuality, the vast majority actually received far less coverage than the San Antonio shooting (which did get some national press.)
Your claim of media bias does not seem to correlate with the available data. Based on the absence of national news coverage, it could quite easily be argued that firearm murders are largely ignored by the national media.

      • RAINSCRYPT

kevin F.. well, i was about to make a similar point.. and after reviewing how much coverage this story did in fact get, locally, nationally, in print, on tv, and on the internet, “Agenda revealed” is now something i have to agree with, but not as intended, or as directed. that is, unless the motive here really is just to further screw with people’s heads.

It was about a plane being hi-jacked.
His soulution was when you get on a plane you should be given a gun.
It was funny back then but today it would make sense.
911 might have been much diffrent if everyone on the plane had a gun.
Train and arm everyone to use a gun. Gun control just won’t work.
With out guns it makes us sheep waiting to be slautered.

      • Henri

Interesting point about the planes.t. But if everyone would be able to carry guns on an airplane, there would have been many more hijackings and crash landings since firing a bullet on an airplane is very dangerous.
911 terrorists used box cutters and these days, everybody would jump out of their seats and jump on them.
Besides, the cockpits have become fortresses so your point is hypothetical.
You can’t be serious about carrying a gun on your hip 24/7. In the restroom as well I presume because any moment a terrorist will walk in at any given toilet and shoots everyone in the….
And is everyone allowed to carry a gun guaranteed 100% sane ? If so, why carry a gun?
My opinion is that of terrybludo a few messages up. You guys are uneducated.

        • Mayhem

My opinion, Henri, is that complete and utter idiots such as yourself should refrain from calling others uneducated.

    • aholianmode

Your story fails to mention that this “off-duty” officer didn’t just happen to be there. She was hired as a security guard.

    • matt2050

Key words “off duty county deputy”. The synopsis isn’t even close to what happened. He never shot the girlfriend, she wasn’t at work. He shot at the front door. He had one hand gun. He was shooting up into the air and at parked cars. He shot at a police car that was arriving before he ever entered the theater. He winged a guy at the theater that was released from the hospital that same night. She was there as hired security. He is in stable condition in the hospital after being shot 4 times? The fact that a foxnews wannabe website so desperately wants the narrative to fit their views and then links to the actually story hoping no one reads it, all just to claim media bias is hilarious!

DHS is gearing up to conduct a massive civil war against the American people!
China, Russia and Mexico are planning an invasion of the U.S. The military is helpless to counter such an attack on American soil without huge casualties of American lives. The only option, arm the citizens and drug them with Prozac, Ritalin, Zoloft, and other psychotic drugs and turn them into “Hyper Killers!” like what was witnessed in the Connecticut shooting. Kill any target without remorse, no pity, no pain, and no guilt! That stupid kid(Adam Lanza)was a test subject and his mother was an expandable asset of the C.I.A,an operative who worked for D.A.R.P.A. The victims of the shooting were the targets intended! For these monsters the experiment was a success! The shooting was a show of force to test the rest of the world. “If you invade the U.S. this is what you’ll have to deal with an armed population of psychopathic killers on drugs!” The Red pill is always hard to swallow…

This story leaves out an important detail: the off-duty officer was hired as a security guard at the theater. This is NOT an instance of a good person with a gun just happening to be in the right place at the right time. She is a trained professional who was doing her job. I personally do NOT want a bunch of heavily armed citizens surrounding me in a dark crowded theater ready to open fire.

      • Pwhyte4

A two week course can teach you how to use a gun correctly. I kown that sounds a little scary but the alternitive is you with a gun to your head and everyone else running away instead of defending you. A base ball bat can be just as deadly, trust me I know. A broken face and some bad memorys…….

        • aholianmode

Thanks, but I’d rather take my chances without being surrounded by a bunch of armed folks (many of whom may be untrained and trigger happy). Plus, even when well trained, their guns seem to fall into the wrong hands much too often.

I don’t want to poke my nose into American politics, but I do feel I have to correct certain strange assertions that get made in these types of discussions.

The UK was never disarmed. The UK was never armed in the first place. It was illegal to carry swords as early as the 1700′s. Duelling was outlawed in practice at the time of Shakespeare. (Christopher Marlowe served a six month prison sentence for killing a butcher in self-defence.) Post 1918 war, possession of a firearm could count against you in a criminal case, and the police could confiscate a weapon if they chose to do so, most of them being classed as relics, keepsakes, mementoes etc. from the war. This long before any scary Hitler quotes and such.

Post 2nd world war all firearms in Britain were registered and breaches of UK gun laws was regarded by the police as an extremely serious offence, and would get you a prison term. Britons have supported these policies since the 1500′s, as expressed by Shakespeare describing blade carriers in the derogatory term “swaggerers” (Henry IV).

There are a number of You-tube vids that purport to show UK protests against “disarmament”. These are protests against the banning of fox-hunting.

Any British teenager can, if they so wish, be fully trained in the use of firearms from the age of 12 upwards, under the auspices of the British Army. They can’t take the guns home with them. I have never been a member of the British Armed Forces but I am fully trained in the use of firearms. I do not want to own a gun and I don’t want anyone within a radius of approximately 300 miles to own one either. I am fully aware of what they can do.

There are reasons to own a gun, I understand; to eliminate either vermin or dangerous predators. In Britain these are mostly quadrupeds. Am I wrong in assuming that American vermin and predators are bipedal? I don’t think guns will solve your problems.

      • Pwhyte4

Good words. If people want to hurt others they will find a way, not just guns.
I was on the other in of a base ball bat that came very close to killing me.
It is not the weapon, it the the person using it that I am afraid of.
Well trained good people will use the weapon for good stuff.
Sometimes bad guys need to be shot.

          @Pwhyte4

You’re a good heart. And you’ve also said one of the most amazing things I’ve seen for years:

“It is not the weapon, it the the person using it that I am afraid of.”

God bless you, and don’t be afraid of the bully-boys.

Mistake – 14 years old to do Army training.

        • Henri

Bargepole, I think you are contradicting yourself here. I think it IS them gun that kills someone. Pwhyte is saying he came close to getting killed by a baseball bat. But he did not. A gun would have probably killed him. At least you can defend yourself against a baseball bat much better than a gun, giving you a much bigger chance to survive. How many children would have been saved. At that school if the killer came in with a baseball bat?

        • Mayhem

Ignorant again, Henri, a gun is only more dangerous if used from a distance. Up close and personal a knife is the most dangerous weapon closely followed by a bat. You have had zero training in the dark arts; I can tell that your life is controlled by fear and I laugh at you.

So it’s not completely true… the ex-girlfriend wasn’t anywhere around. The full, real story is here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/17/san-antonio-movie-theater-shooting_n_2315139.html

    • CareyP

Stop being Sheeple people!! This story is a complete fabrication. The gunman wasn’t shot and killed, he never shot his ex-girlfriend. This is crappy journalism at it’s finest. Here is a link to the FACTS of the story!!

    • nuuvox

I hate Obama as much as the next guy, but I can’t see why people are wondering why it didn’t get as much coverage as the CT shooting. 26 people, including children, were killed. This occurence left two injured, maybe very badly injured. Yeah, it’s terrible, but nowhere near as terrible as the CT shooting. The media might be biased, but if they covered this story just as much as the CT shooting, then they would be biased the other way.

    • ccjones1969

This wasn’t a story because the media is only interested when death is involved. There’s no conspiracy, it’s just business as usual.

    • Ablative Absolute

Note that the good gal with a gun was a trained police officer, not a civilian with a concealed carry permit.

    • Billy

Let’s see… The girlfriend wasn’t there and was not shot. The gunman shot through a patrol car windshield in the parking lot before entering the theater (with a cop inside), why couldn’t the cop on duty get him before he went into the theater?

Snopes lists this story as “true”, The gun nut that summarized the story skewed it to sound like a person just happened to be there.

What rubbish! This story just shows how sick Americans are because it assumes that the right result is the shooter being killed by the deputy. In a sane country, none of those in this story would have had access to guns.

    • Really?isUrBrainEngaged

Really you Americans need to have a serious look at your second amendment.
Outlaw semi automatic weapons except for your military and police .i understand and support your right to have protection but we have a ban on semi automatic weapons here in Canada and we have much less in the way of shootings Our unarmed population is safer than your armed population the crime rate here is less than it is there .Are we just better people ? No we are the same people matter of fact my dad was born in
Springfield Mass many of us here have family there we have our fair share of criminals we just have way less shootings .Something to look at for sure just saying

      • Mayhem

I think you could do well to check your facts. Per capita Canadastan has vastly more firearms than Americastan. You are correct about the lower crime statistics though.

    • An Old Marine

Granted, she is a trained Police Officer. There are virtually millions of trained former military and law enforcement personnel who would be capable of duplicating her act if they were carrying a concealed sidearm.

    • Anonymous

The mind of satan cannot be dealt with using ‘laws’, it only understands deadly force on the spot. This is why gun control never works.

    • Equalizer

      Thank you JAy!
Excellent examples. Sad though, a lot of the comments posted here by “lunatic liberals” don’t base intelligent decisions on facts or real history of a disarmed society= genocide.

Justvwondered why it isnt being reported that hawaii regisrar confirms obamas birth certificate posted online at white house web site is a forgery. Also that his birth certificate does not exist anywhere in hawaii.

    • MW2k

The fact is, the shooter never ran into the theater to “shoot more people”, he ran in to get away from the off duty officer that was trying to stop him. This was nothing like the Auora, CO shooting as the gunman’s intention was to kill his ex, not mow down a bunch of people for no reason. The fact that you would compare the 2 is insulting.

Your story has no point and it didn’t make national news because it was no big deal. Not even the local news media made a big deal about it

The point of this article is to indicate it was a trained officer of the law who ended this spree before it began. Not an average Joe Schmo who was a good shot.

EVERYONE should have a gun, and the white, black, brown, and yellow TRASH can thin themselves out ! The ones worth living will THINK twice before pulling any crap . . . knowing that THEY can be the victim too !
EVERY corrupt politician in America has a gun, or GUN protection . . .BUT, YOU are not allowed to have the same protection . . . . . . . ? then you may deserve to be shot, at some point . . . .for being a sheep. The 2nd Amendment wasn’t written to protect ourselves from ourselves . . . . .IT was written to protect ourselves from corrupt government, currently the democratic party who think *they* OWN everyone, and everything, and they will “dictate” to you/us . . . . .”don’t do as I do . . .do as I say “. They think they are above the LAWS, and cannot be prosecuted for their corruption, and greed !
WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO THROW THEM OUT ???
      HINT : Voting is a fraud for the ignorant masses . . . . . .

    • MadMatty

Isn’t it somewhat important to note that:

      Not only was the gunman’s ex not shot, she wasn’t present;
There were no casualties, although one person was shot; and,
The off- duty deputy was hired security for the theater.

Maybe these facts are why this story didn’t make the national media.

      http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/sanantonio.asp

    • willw05

The deputy was working as a Security guard at the theater you morons!

    • willw05

Gee I wonder who wounded the other 2 people… since the “shooter” didn’t. This is what happens when you have “good”guys and “bad” guys shooting it out in a public place… Has anyone here been wounded by a bullet? Here’s another National Story:
