This statement is usually made to include the worst of criminals, but unfortunately most of the people in jail today aren’t even real criminals, they are so called nonviolent “offenders”, who are treated like animals right along with the thieves and murderers.
Most of the people who have a hard nosed pro state perspective on prisons have likely never been subject to those conditions themselves. They are typically good slaves who don’t step out of line.
