Pentagon Agency Admits It Began Stockpiling Potassium Iodide Due To Fukushima (Video)

Typically, potassium iodide pills are used to protect emergency workers BEFORE they are dispatched into an area contaminated with radioactive iodine. Taking the pills after you have been exposed to radioactive iodine is useless since the thyroid gland is already saturated with the radioactive form of iodine. The purpose of taking the pills is to saturate the thyroid gland with non-radioactive iodine BEFORE exposure to the radioactive form. Then, when you ingest or breath in radioactive iodine, it does not accumulate in the thyroid and your body eliminates it through normal processes, minimizing radiation exposure damage. Folks who don’t understand these processes need to be careful because they can create hysteria (that’s what did the most damage in the US after Three Mile Island) and harm people who otherwise would be unaffected. I-131 decays by beta decay (it emits an energetic electron). Beta particles, although highly ionizing, cannot penetrate far even in the human body – only a few millimeters in soft tissue. Thus, only the thyroid and VERY nearby structures are at risk. Radiation induced cancers usually occur YEARS after exposure; like 20 to 30 years, if at all (the exposure only increases the risk, it doesn’t necessarily result in a cancer forming). Thus, the only “immediate treatment” needed is to supplement the thyroid function with synthroid, if the thyroid is damaged. Finally, I know of no other pill that can protect any organ other than the thyroid from radiation damage. A normal adult requires 2 – 65 mg tablets every 24 hours throughout a radiation event (preferably taking the first dose BEFORE the event occurs). Potassium iodide is only effective against radioactive iodine. That is the least of your worries. You can live without your thyroid gland (the organ that is protected by the potassium iodide) as long as you have access to synthroid for the rest of your life. Now Cesium-134, Cesium-137 and Strontium-90 (also released in a nuclear power plant accident or from a dirty bomb), that’s a different issue. For children, the Iodine-131 is a bigger issue because their little bodies are still developing. But you can kill a child with potassium iodide if you give them too much (65 mg or one adult dose is too much for a child).

Note – Even in government contracting & purchasing, there are well meaning but uninformed people who do stupid things, like stockpiling potassium iodide.

This is URGENT: Potassium Iodide is not what people should be taking if they feel that they are now being exposed from Fukushima radiation or from any other radioactive event! This is why! Potassium Iodide DOES NOT REMOVE ANY RADIATION FROM THE BODY AT ALL! Potassium Iodide should only be taken before a radioactive event occurs and it protects ONLY the thyroid for a 24-hour period of time. If your still being radiated after 24 hours the Potassium Iodide is no longer useful and if you keep taking it day after day YOU WILL GET SICK! Ingestable zeolite is mined underground and comes in a tasteless powder form. It can be taken by mixing it into juice or water. A normal detox takes 90 days but a large amount of radiation will flush out of the body with the first few doses.
