“Where’s the Red Cross?” people cried in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, as people were dying from thirst, food and rising waters.

“Where’s the Red Cross?” people cried after the BP Gulf of Mexico catastrophe, as people bled from all orifices and couldn’t breathe.

“Where’s the Red Cross?” people cried after Hurricane Sandy.

Why didn’t the Red Cross respond to Americans’ cries for help?

The problem was that the Red Cross did respond – to government orders that actually hindered rescue operations. Meanwhile, the Red Cross rakes in donated money from unwitting Americans.

That was not the last time Americans suffered disasters with Red Cross turning a deaf ear to cries for help. One organization says it’s time to expose the Red Cross.

ProPublica is reporting on how the American Red Cross operates and how it spent donations after Hurricane Sandy and other disasters.

“We’ve already published one story, for example, on how the Red Cross won’t disclose how it spent money after Sandy because it’s a ‘trade secret’,” Pro Publica says on its website.
