Ferguson: Obama Asked To Send Fed'l Marshals To Terrorized Town NOW!
As militarized police terror in Ferguson, Missouri continues escalating with their killing a second young Black man, disabled, and support continues growing for the police officer, who fatally shot “at least six times” and killed an unarmed youth with his hands in the air 10 days ago, civil and human rights groups are demanding that President Barack Obama send federal marshals to the war-torn community to protect residents.
Police officer Darren Wilson fatally shot Michael Brown, a quiet, 18-year-old black youth, a recent high school graduat scheduled to begin college the day after he was fataly shot.
Militarized police have has created an urban war zone since the night after Brown was killed when authorities blamed the young unarmed man for his death.
Police made a record 78 arrests overnight in Ferguson, KSDK reported, including four neighborhood residents and 48 St. Louis area residents. Forty-five people were arrested for failing to disperse at police order, and instead, practicing their right to peacefully assemble.
Two were arrested Tuesday night for alleged unlawful use of a weapon, while another one was arrested for allegedly “interfering with an officer.“
On Aug 9th, 2014 a Ferguson police officer “racially profiled” and fatally shot 18-year-old Michael Brown as the teen stood in the street with his hands in the air.
“Since the tragic police killing, many have been injured in a war-like environment as police displayed blatant disregard for civil rights — unlawfully arresting dozens of people including members of the press,” Color Of Change reports.
Compounding injustice in Ferguson, on Sunday, local police fired tear gas at children and at residents gathered on their front lawns.
Tuesday, police fatally shot another young African American man, 23, with learning disabilities.
Angry residents have accused the police of excessive force after two officers fired several bullets into the young man, well known in the area as a special needs individual with learning difficulties.
Local officials won’t investigate the killing of Michael Brown by a police officer. Rather than work with the community to lower tensions, they’re shooting tear gas at children in their yards and bringing in the National Guard to turn the town into an armed camp.
Increasingly, Ferguson protesters identify with Gaza Palestinians persectuted by Israel. The people of Ferguson have been barricaded into town in places, unable to safely go out without fear of police assaults. This week, it was reported that the same makers of tear gas canisters fired at Palestinians by Israelis also supplied Missouri authorities. Earlier, it was reported that Missouri police officers were trained in Israel by the IDF.
Sunday night, America’s war zone in Missouri took a turn for the worse. St. Louis and Ferguson police — dressed in camouflage and equipped with armored tanks and military rifles — fired tear gas, rubber coated bullets, and flash grenades at thousands of Black residents exercising their right to peacefully assemble and demand accountability for the police killing of 18-year-old Michael Brown.1
Many people were injured as police displayed a blatant disregard for civil rights — unlawfully arresting dozens of people including members of the press, according to Color of Change.
President Obama said while vacationing at Martha’s Vinyard four days after police officer Darren Wilson fataly shot Michael Brown, Jr., “There is also no excuse for police to use excessive force against peaceful protests or to throw protesters in jail for lawfully expressing their First Amendment rights.”
The president failed to specifically mention police arresting reporters for the Huffington Post and Washington Post. He did however, mention aggressive law enforcement tactics.
“Here in the United States of America, police should not be bullying or arresting journalists who are just trying to do their jobs and report to the American people on what they are seeing on the ground,” Obama said. “Put simply, we all need to hold ourselves to a high standard, particularly those of us in positions of authority.”
“Now is the time for an open and transparent process to see that justice is done. And I’ve asked that the attorney general and the U.S. attorney on the scene continue to work with local officials to move that process forward.”
But that’s not enough, according to Color of Change and other organizations, such as Democracy For America (DFA) that have joined COC in the campaign to demand that Obama send federal marshals to Ferguson to protect citizens.
“President Obama and US Attorney General Eric Holder must take definitive action to increase oversight and enforce a higher national standard that ends rampant police misconduct and protects the civil rights of Black Missourians. If not, matters will only get worse.”
COC says, “Local authorities have proven incapable and the federal government must step in.”
During the 1950s and 1960s, when local authorities refused to pursue justice, the federal government stepped in. President Eisenhower sent U.S. marshals to escort African American children to school. President Kennedy sent the FBI to investigate the murders of Civil Rights activists.
President Obama has sent Attorney General Holder and the FBI to Missouri to investigate the police killing of Michael Brown.
“That’s a good start. But they need to help de-escalate the police response in order to provide justice and peace to the people of Ferguson – by sending federal marshals to the area,” Color Of Change staff say.
The latest news from Ferguson shows why the federal government must step in.
Sunday, Michael Brown’s family released shocking autopsy results, showing that Police officer Darren Wilson shot Michael Brown at least six times, twice in his head. One shot the police fired struck Michael in his palm, bolstering witness claims that he had rasied his his hands in the air to show he was not resisting, armed, or attacking the officer.
Raising hands in the air and shouting, “Don’t shoot! Don’t shoot!!” has become the action and rally cry of thousands of people around the world against racism and in solidarity with Michael Brown, his family and community.
Even Turkish soccer fans are protesting with Ferguson now, as seen in the photo below.
Officers continue arresting reporters and residents alike. Now, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has sent in the National Guard, further militarizing the situation. It’s another step in the wrong direction, making it even more difficult for the public to trust that justice will be served in this case.
‘Return Focus to Where It Belongs’
“The federal government must hold local police to a higher standard. They need to stop the appalling tactics being used against protesters and return the focus where it belongs — bringing Officer Darren Wilson, who shot and killed Michael Brown, to justice.“

Because the reports only cover one side of the story I stopped reading the postings of the King of Shambhala. I know what is going to be the line without reading it. A balanced report will give people the information to form an opinion. It may not be the opinion that was wanted. This is life, intelligence and the human experience. I can get no information from Deborah’s reports that can’t be gleaned from her byline.
I don’t think you could write her reports based her byline, which is essentially what you claim. You might as well just admit that you don’t want to read good journalism backed up with solid sources.
Though I agree with you about what is going on with local police, lets not make Brown in to a saint just yet. I think we need more info on what happened.
