9 Cops Sue City of Cleveland

In a twist to racial news, 8 white cops and one hispanic cop are suing the City of Cleveland for racial discrimination over treatment they allege they received since returning to work after the 2012 killings of two unarmed African-Americans.

Victims, Timothy Rissell, was shot 23 times and, Malissa Williams, was shot 24 times out of 137 bullets fired on the pair after a high speed chase that involved more than a hundred law enforcement officials. The duo had no weapon and.the city of Cleveland settled with the families for $3 million.

Of the 13 cops involved in the actual 2012 shootings, The 9 who filed suit believe they have been victims of racial discrimination. 

In their lawsuit they state,

“A serious dichotomy exists as a result of the defendants’ longstanding practices and procedures which place onerous burdens on non-African American officers, including the plaintiffs, because of their race and the race of persons who are the subjects of the legitimate use of deadly force.” 

The Cleveland P.D. is currently under fire for the recent shooting of 12-year-old Tamir Rice.
