Proof That Past Is Prologue Pharmacologically

The New Scientist Health published a rather interesting article regarding a thousand-year-old, 9th century Anglo-Saxon ‘antibiotic’ remedy for curing an eye disease, the stye.

The amazing aspect of the story, in my opinion, is that modern scientists are figuratively ‘gassed’ about the recipe’s ability to have killed off 90 percent of the MRSA infection in a controlled laboratory test with mice.

What modern pharmaceuticals, medicine, science and other aspects of life and living fail to realize is that human ingenuity, and their cognitive abilities for working with Nature’s bounties, allowed humans to evolve over thousands—if not hundreds of thousands—of years. Some rather ‘recent’ practices in Chinese, Hindu, and Hebrew healing histories survive to this very day. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) with its potent natural herbs and other substances; the Vedic/Hindu [Indian] culture’s Ayurveda medicine based in diet and plants; and Ancient Hebrew Herbal Medicine—all—were part of humankind’s original pharmacopeia.

Humans did not evolve over millennia with today’s modern toxic pharmaceuticals, which are made mostly from petroleum-based products/chemicals, including genetically modified organisms. Human bodies really don’t know how to use toxic chemicals as effectively as herbs and other natural specimens that have been “time tested” in the human organism, along with life-enhancing enzymes and other synergistic properties. If plants weren’t effective, their medicinal uses would not have been passed down through time and generations.

But, modern medicine totally distrusts natural medicine and vocalizes against it with a prejudiced vengeance, sad to say. Also, there’s a predatory attitude against any type of traditional healing approach. How ridiculous, since Big Pharma are the new kids on the block! Where were you when Columbus sailed the seas? How about when Hannibal crossed the Alps? You apparently may have come about because of Project Paperclip. [4] But definitely, from the monetary influences of the Rockefellers in establishing the pharmaceutical cartel. [5] That family still charges on with implementing the New World Order too!

However, any probable incredulity expressed by current researchers, undoubtedly, stems from the antibiotic’s ingredients and production method. That, alone, ought to explain to all of pharmacology/vaccinology and medicine, the synergistic effects of ingredients, i.e., potency and efficacy increase due to synergism between natural ingredients and acid/alkaline interactions within the human organism.

That thousand-year-old recipe used cropleek, garlic, wine, bullock’s gall, which was left to ferment in a brass vessel for 9 days.

Leeks and garlic are high in sulfur, which is important in killing microorganisms, fungus, bacteria, and mites. Grapes, from which their wine probably was made, contain vitamins K and B2, plus resveratrol, a powerful natural phenol and phytoalexin, antioxidants—all important for inducing cellular apoptosis [cell ‘suicide’], plus other healthful biologicals. Bullock’s gall apparently was the gastric juice of the gall bladder taken from a slain male bovine, which probably had a pH of about 6. When ancient Anglo-Saxons mixed those ingredients together and allowed them to ferment in a brass vessel, which obviously had copper and probably zinc, the healing mineral—maybe some silver content, too—a leaching of trace minerals occurred into the mixture due to the acid/alkaline reaction, thereby formulating a potent stye-on-the-eye curing medicinal. One that even killed 90% of the modern antibiotic-resistant MRSA! Interesting?

It should be noted that silver, from ancient times, has been used as an antimicrobial.

Hippocrates first described its antimicrobial properties in 400 bc. [1]

Additionally, copper is known for its capabilities to destroy free radicals and also is involved in DNA and RNA reproduction. Copper also increases energy production. So, there’s absolutely no reason for any amazement as to why the recipe wouldn’t work.

However, I don’t think it would be very wise—or even suggest—that anyone try ‘cooking’ up a batch, since laypersons usually do not have biochemistry backgrounds sufficient to deal with the end product. Although, the ancients did! Today’s shamans [medicine men and women] probably are equally adept at using generational “hand-down” herbal concoctions.

But as far as I’m concerned, that stye-curing recipe is a “no brainer” for anyone who understands how holistic medicine and body chemistry work together using natural substances and synergy to heal. Think “energy” medicine!

That being said, however, when one of the healing sciences is so steeped in man-made chemicals and thinks that only man-made chemicals are the ‘cat’s whiskers’ for treating health and diseases, then I guess one would be utterly surprised that foods can heal. Furthermore, Hippocrates, the Father of Modern Medicine, is famous for saying, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.”

Another of Hippocrates’ [460BCE—370BCE] quotes is this—and probably my favorite:

As to diseases, make a habit of two things — to help, or at least, to do no harm.

Too much in pharmaceutical medicine causes harm [*]: vaccines, prescription drugs, SSRIs, even chemotherapy drugs [2]. According to the CDC, prescription drugs do this:

Every day in the United States, 120 people die as a result of drug overdose,8 and another 6,748 are treated in emergency departments (ED) for the misuse or abuse of drugs.2 Nearly 9 out of 10 poisoning deaths are caused by drugs.8

In 2013, 35,663 (81.1%) of the 43,982 drug overdose deaths in the United States were unintentional, 5,432 (12.4%) were of suicidal intent, and 2,801 (6.4%) were of undetermined intent. [3]

There are numerous natural protocols for diseases that are totally effective, including treating and managing cancer—so don’t be fooled by pharmacological “consensus science” which, apparently, dupes even their own researchers about other healing remedies or protocols.

Oh, by the way, if pharmacology decides to “cash in” on that latest Anglo-Saxon find, know that it wouldn’t be the first time pharmaceuticals mimicked herbal medicine. Artemisinin, the antimalarial drug, was formulated from ingredients found in historical Chinese medical texts.

However, you can be certain it will have to be synthetic and patented! Nature’s plant pharmaceuticals cannot be patented, so that’s why Big Pharma does not promote them but, instead, tries to imitate them, and definitely discourages consumers from using them.
