After Video of Deputy Brutalizing Student in Class Went Viral, This Happened. Watch.
A student caught on video a deputy police officer at Spring Valley High School assaulting a black female student in a South Carolina class room. The 15-second video circulated on social media sites across the nation Monday, going viral along with Twitter campaigns to prosecute the officer. A second video emerged, longer, more detailed and more disturbing was scrubbed from the internet, but re-uploaded.
“Sitting in a desk while black is illegal,” Twitter user tweeted at #ArrestAtSpringValleySchool.
An officer responded to the student who would not leave the classroom, according to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.
After the young woman in class failed to obey orders to leave her desk and the room, and instead, passively remained in her desk chair, school staff called into the calss room Deputy Ben Fields, Spring Valley High School’s “school resource officer” cop, a newer American school entitiy after the United States became a police state. (The U.S. supposedly needs police in schools, not teachers with evidence-based preventive counseling in the classroom skills.)
To more fully grasp the US education system’s core issues, including “school resource officers” such as Ben Field, read the Justice Policy Institute report “Education Under Arrest.“
Deputy Field’s violence against the student — grabbing, lifting her and the desk and then slamming both onto the ground (seemingly enough for the body builder officer to break her neck), was more than enough for an immediate arrest these days — had the perpetrator been anyone other than a police officer.
Instead? The student Fields’ brutalized has been charged with “disturbing schools” crime, punishable by up to 90 days in jail or a one thousand dollar fine. Another student who shot one of the videos also was charged. She says she was arrested just for standing up for her classmate. Officer Fields, however, freely roams at large.
Revolution MacInnes @From_Nothing tweeted: “I’m guessing the folks at #FoxandFriends are already setting up a #gofundme account for Officer Ben Fields! #ArrestAtSpringValleyHigh”
Johnny on his Johnny Fox Show on YouTube (below) has a sobering take on the incident and what has transpired every day in America’s schools that led them to be what they are today: incarceration preparation facilities.
Twitter usres are expressing some of the best Americans’ sentiments regarding this incident and the underlying issues.
The young woman student was legally charged with disturbing schools, and then released to the custody of her parents. Another female student was charged with disturbing schools, (but she was not the person who recorded the video, as an officer previously stated).
Deputy Fields has been placed on administrative duty, according to a statement by Lt. Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department Monday night. Deputy Fields will not be back at any school pending the results of an investigation.
Why isn’t he already in custody, as any student would be (or worse) for the same offense? Has the student who made the video, Tony Robisnosn, received an award for courage, agility and technical expertise? Here’s what Robinson has to say about what happened: The girl who Fields violently arrested had done nothing wrong.
Robinson says she took out her cell phone for a minute during class, and a teacher asked her for it. She refused to give the phone to the teacher. The teacher called the vice principle. The vice principal asked the student to leave, and she refused, but she was very apologetic. The vice principle then called the police officer, who confronted the student and escalated the situation — and that’s when Robinson started taking video on his cell phone.
The 15-second school video sent shivers down 36-year-old Army veteran Carlos Martin’s spine. He’d been “manhandled by the beefy South Carolina cop the same way almost exactly 10 years before,” according to NY Daily News. “I recognized him on the spot. I remembered how big he was,” Martin told the Daily News.
Martin encountered Fields twice: once in a Columbia, S.C. parking lot during an arrest and later, in a courtroom, where Martin and his wife, Tashiana, filed suit against Fields for civil rights violations.
NY Daily News reports:
“Martin said the beefy officer “snapped” after he called him “dude,” and slammed him on the ground. He began pepper-spraying the helpless veteran, but Martin said he was trained in the military to resist the chemicals. An entire canister of the stuff failed to disable Martin.
“”He became even more violent because I didn’t react like most people would.’ Martin said.
“His wife at the time, Tashiana Rogers, witnessed the fracas, and ran outside to take photos of the violent encounter with her cellphone. That’s when Fields called for his partner to ‘get her black ass,’” Martin said. The officer grabbed her phone and deleted the photos. Fields then called for backup.
“‘I’m watching my wife get beat up in front of me, and there’s nothing I can do about it,’ Martin said.”
After 10 years in the service, the former medic said his encounter with Fields led to his divorce and military discharge. The lawsuit was dismissed due to issues proving excessive force, his criminal trial lawyer John Mobley told Daily News. His ex-wife’s lawsuit went to court and the jury ruled in the sheriff department’s favor, Mobley said.
Public action: ‘Fire, Presecute Ben Fields’
@TheMiamiVoice tweeted Monday night @Officer Ben Fields, “We must all unite to ban Israeli training of tactics for American law enforcement.”

National leading rights group Color of Change says, “Officer Fields has a history of attacking students, who say they’ve complained about him for years. This time, his violence was caught on camera, and it’s clearly unnecessary, malicious, and brutal.
Color of Change is leading a campaign demanding officer Ben Fields be fired and prosecuted immediately, and that all charges are dropped against students already victimized by Fields.
“Join us in demanding accountability for officer Ben Fields, and justice for students he abused, Color of Change urges, adding, “And please ask your friends and family to do the same.”

Johnny Fox, and you who complain should go sub in some of today’s schools. And, video boy ( you are not a man,), can you speak one sentence with decent language? Your language is disgusting. I truly doubt you graduatedchigh school and if you did, with your attitude, you got veryvlittle from it. I really feel sorry for students who want an education but havecto becin class with the lokes of you. You are disgusting. Something happened for the teacher to call for the resource officer to come to the classroom. Many of today’s students should not be in the class with decent students.
Thank you for suggesting subbing in school. I did – in a Louisiana school with the “worst of the worst” school and class other teachers claimed. By using in that class preventive counseling skills, the type any teacher can learn about and use IF they believe all students are decent and if they have true compassion and want to help students learn — my class was so quiet and attentive, other teachers would stand outside to listen in amazement to what was going on in there.
The skills I used in class are available to learn but first, there must be an understanding all children/youth are equal and a love of all children/youth – especially those with issues because they need the most skilled and loving role model as teachers. Too few students get that. Too few teachers get the problem. Too many parents think their children are so much better then others, they don’t belong together – a bottom line problem in the US – racism.
Can we blame students for their teachers and school staff being clueless about preventive counseling in the classroom? Hardly. That’s not their job. They are there to learn, not domesticated – primed for jail.
Can we blame teachers for the ignorance about preventive counseling? The techniques have been around for decades. They are not, however, required in teacher education in universities. Add their salaries, so meager that we have too many teachers without capacity for much of anything else so they become teachers. Instead of becoming teachers because they love children/youth and have a burning desire to help children/youth learn, they teach because it’s a job, a paycheck.
In the United States , the average salary for a public high school teacher is $55,360. Throwing more money at teachers, however is no answer. They need basic skills of social workers these days – plain and simple. The system has created such. Either have those basic skills or fail at teaching all the students. Without those basic skills, teachers fail to help young people learn and our youth, our future leaders continue to fail – and yes, as Fox says – only be part of the pipeline to jail.
Now, who is disgusting? Have a look at Eva’s attitude and lack of awareness about learning principles. (By the way, thank you, Eva, for voicing typical American sentiment – albeit based on a learning deficit.) That attitude obviously creates failures, oppression, and, as learning guru and author of “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” Paula Freire called it – domestication – precisely what NWO rulers want.
Have you looked at your own writing ?
if i was you i would shut up and learn the basics like how to use a space-bar
No wonder they want you to hand your guns in !
Hitler pulled that trick too
Police are little more than paid thugs, not the smartest people and don’t get the big picture.
Thanks. Yes, and too many teachers seem the same as bad cops. Teachers can either learn to use preventive counseling in the classroom techniques or they can continue contributing to the school to jail pipeline. The latter reached its due date long ago.
All children and youth deserve better, even those troubled – indeed, especially those troubled.
Read this comment on another page, too good to not re-post. Nathan Sanford said, “Why not just drag the desk into the hallway? That’s what I’ve done in the past for students disrupting a class then refusing to leave. Apparently I didn’t get the proper training of “smash their head into the ground”.
Just another scumbag coward with a little pee pee no mind

qikq action stronger than words.
Thank you for demonstrating how violence begets violence and why psychopathic behavior in the US is on the rise – so it is obviously never the answer. He needs to be prosecuted and be an example showing violence is intolerable, illegal, immoral and will be punishable under law – even in the US where leaders are demonstrating to the world it’s OK to brutalize and kill even children.
