Tom Campbell's My Big Toe Theory - A Short Analysis

Tom Campbell has an interesting theory with his My Big Toe idea but this is the first time where I’ve heard him discuss its practical applications and frankly it’s a disappointment. He’s just recycling the same New Age ideas like everybody else in the “alternative” media. Ask yourself what it is that usually gets recycled, and the answer is garbage. This goes not only for stuff but ideas. He says we don’t have to be perfect, and that therefore the paying of taxes is OK. Oh really? To quote myself: “he who pays taxes is stupid.”

I also understand why someone like him wouldn’t want to disseminate information as to how to do that, simply because I myself don’t tell people how to do that. But I can give you a tantalising clue: if you’re earning 20 Euros an hour, your labour is valued at 20 Euros an hour, and you are in effect making a swap of 20 Euros worth of labour for 20 Euros in money. Therefore you are earning ZERO Euros. I know, sounds Marxist but it’s not.

Then he makes a mention of materialism, and like a lot of other people he seems to have something against it. It’s interesting that people who make such statements can best be paraphrased as saying “all money is evil, so just give it all to me and I’ll take care of it.” As a former college professor, I noticed that the younger generation is almost devoid of materialism, and I think that’s a problem. Their lack of materialism makes them regard even their own bodies as just some useless thing and so they disfigure themselves in various ways, like with piercings and tattoos. They also place greater importance regarding things going on online as opposed to in real life. They actually trust institutions like banks, the state, and politicians! You don’t get ahead in life by TRUSTING anything.

Another thing he’s wrong about is the system of money creation. He obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about on this one because the system of how money is created is CRUCIAL and I don’t need to go on about this because then I’d just be recycling thoughts. Although he didn’t say it openly, I betcha he also believes in corporate democracy, another fallacy. Democracy has never existed in the form of a corporate state simply because there is no fiscal responsibility associated therewith. To wit: Obama bin Biden thinks it’s a good idea to wage a war against Tramtaria. Then he has a budget estimate made up, and the issue goes to a referendum. The yeas and the nays are counted, and then that bill is evenly divided among all the people who vote “yes” in the form of a pro-rated tax increase. THAT’S democracy. I know, sounds Randian.

Then he repeats the usual new-age slogan of “be yourself,” and “be the change you want to see in the world” a-la-Gandhi. What he forgets is that these two statements are completely at odds. For example: in my case, I actually AM being myself, and I don’t have to try at all to do it. Only problem is, that by being my usual negative, hateful, and pessimistic self I certainly wouldn’t want others to be the same as I. In fact I actually lived in a place where the people are EXACTLY as negative, hateful, and pessimistic as myself and I didn’t exactly like it. It’s called Eastern Europe. That’s why we always take our vacations elsewhere, to get away from our own selves.

Getting back to the whole materialism thing. True freedom of thought comes from not being encumbered with basic deficiencies. To be able to free your mind, your material needs have to be taken care of via nutritious food, adequate housing, clothing, and technology. The human being is the only creature that actually needs technology to survive, like clothing and housing. If you have a thorn stuck in your foot, you’re not exactly going to be pondering the mysteries of life in the universe until such time as you sit down and remove that thorn (again, using technology known as “tweezers”).

So yeah, he’s wrong on a couple of points, and I may be as well. I’m not saying I’m right. In fact, if anyone is of a didactic or dogmatic mindset where they’re 100% convinced they are right, then that’s the symptom of being 100% brainwashed. Think your own thoughts, but first figure out what they are. Listen to everything that people send you in good faith (like this video) but don’t jump on any bandwagons because I myself didn’t get to be what I am by following anyone else but myself.

Let me give you a stupid example. I was finishing my cigarette outside a supermarket here in downtown Europe City, and so was this other guy I never seen before who was wearing a monk’s robe made of burlap, women’s high heels, and had a big mohawk and earrings. Yet the people going past were all staring at ME! Why? Because ordinary people are more likely to identify with someone who just LOOKS different as opposed to someone like me who THINKS differently.
