LaVoy Finicum Memorial Desecrated, Rebuilt, Then Torn Down by Harney County Sheriff's Office

The roadside memorial to the fallen hero LaVoy Finicum, murdered by the US, State, County and unidentifed agents on January 26, 2016; has been removed again, twice in one week. The memorial was destroyed, rebuilt on the 28th, then removed after a complaint to the Harney County Sheriffs office that it was “litter”.

The site was declared sacred ground by several Native American tribes: Crow, Paiute, Sioux, Commanche, and Cheyenne Nations, so this destruction violates Federal Law and the Native American Graves Act. The tribes are working on legal recourse.

Meanwhile, if you would like to let the Harney County Sheriff’s office know what you think, or ask them WHY the memorial is being illegally desecrated by Harney County officals, you can reach the responsible party, Lucas McLain at 541-573-6156. Respectfully inquire how it is permissible for a memorial to a peaceful, principled American, built on protected Native American sacred ground to be destroyed?
