Obviously this guy is just repeating what he learned in school and making himself sound important. Too bad he hasn’t done any research to find out if what he was taught is true. Those of us that have know that most of what he says is not true. In fact it is impossible. And it can be proven over and over. But…..you won’t see anyone who believes this stuff ever confront any of those hard questions. Like: How does all that water hang on to a spinning globe? Why doesn’t it get flung off like we do off a merry go round at about 10 mph? They won’t answer that question, and if they do, they say “gravity” which is something that sounds good but no one can really explain. Since even galaxies are moving through space… a good example is that we are on a collision course with Andromeda after so many odd billion years, that technically any “heliocentric” system like ours is moving either up or down (who knows which was is what. There is no reference point in space) or at some sort of an angle so technically we have to be moving through space in a spiral sort of fashion to some extent. It just makes sense. The sun seems fixed to us buy obviously if the galaxy is moving the sun and other stars have to be moving also.
The question is… why are all of these distant stars in the same place, night after night in the night sky after long periods of time? The flat earth believers will say because the stars are fixed in the sky, but I think it’s because they are so far away and the light from them is so many light years away that we really have no idea where the actual star is now. It could have moved somewhere different but the light from its different location has not reached us yet due to the distance it has to travel.
When you speak of something in terms of light years, it’s obviously a very, very, very long ways away.
The funny thing about our imminent collision with Andromeda is the vastness of space between stars is so immense that our two galaxies will probably just flow together without many collisions and become one super galaxy.
Also, good point about light years. The distances are incomprehensible to people simply because they are so vast.
But the stars are tracked and have been for thousands of years, if not more. The amount of movement across our night sky is such a minuscule amount that it isn’t visually detectable without special instruments in our relatively short lifespans.
And Yes, it has a lot to do with the delay in the time it takes for the light to reach us.
