Video: Off-Duty Cop Roughs up 13-Year Old Kid and Fires Gun Into Group of Teenagers

Cellphone video footage showing an off-duty Los Angeles Police Department officer firing a shot while holding a 13-year-old captive has gone viral and is causing widespread outrage.

The incident took place in in Anaheim, California, near Loara High School about 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday. It reportedly began when the off-duty cop allegedly called a young girl  “c***t” after she walked across his lawn.

The cop – whose name has not yet been released – is accused of initially grabbing the girl for walking on his property, which led Christian Dorscht, a 13-year-old boy, to intervene on her behalf.

That’s when things got very, very out of control.

In the following video footage, you’ll see the confrontation between the officer and the young boy.

The officer is seen holding the boy by the hoodie, and then around the neck and shoulders in what appears to be an attempt to restrain him.

“I’m only 13,” Christian is heard saying at one point, as several people in the group of teens are heard saying: “Let him go.”

While the cop has him by the neck, Christian is heard saying: ‘He tried to hit me in my nuts. That’s like a little p***y move, punch a kid in the nuts.”

The cop then replies: “Because you’ve been resisting this whole time.”

Christian fires back, saying he wasn’t resisting and explains, “No, I wasn’t. You tackled me first. I didn’t do anything to hurt you. All I said was, ‘Respect the girl,’ because you said, ‘Get out of my property’.”

The officer responds that the teen had said he was going to shoot him, and the teen denies that, saying, “I didn’t say that. Why are you lying? I said, ‘I’m going to sue you.’”

Moments later, another boy charges the off-duty cop and knocks him over in an attempt to free his friend.

But the cop does not let go, and instead reaches into his waistband and pulls out a gun.

Seconds later, a shot is heard, and the teens scatter from the area.

Christian can then be heard saying, “You shot me, you put a gun to my face,” as the off-duty cop tells an elderly man nearby to call the police.

Aren’t sidewalks public property?

It sure looks like the cop PULLED the kid from the sidewalk onto his property – and then dragged him onto someone else’s property.

The cop reportedly did not show ID or a badge to the group of teens or the boy he held captive. For all the kids knew, the guy could have been a sex offender, kidnapper, or some deranged individual who was having a bad day and decided to rage on a bunch of kids.

It certainly appears he detained Christian wrongfully.

Yes, people have the right to protect their property from trespassers.

Yes, it is disrespectful to walk across others’ property without permission.

But for this adult – a police officer who should know better – to escalate an incident to this level is inexcusable. He made the situation more dangerous for everyone involved.

The teenagers involved in this scuffle handled the situation more calmly and rationally than the off-duty cop did.

Thankfully, no one was shot, but Christian suffered many bruises and scrapes, and is understandably shaken up.

Christian and his mother spoke to WGN about the ordeal:

“I said, ‘Hey, that’s not how you treat a lady. And then he came at me. … He hit me. I ran to the street to run away from him, and he got me. He tried to trip me and then he kicked me in my testicles.”

The boy again said he told the officer he was going to “sue him,” not “shoot” him.

Christian was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats and battery, and a 15-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault and battery. The older teen was released to his parents yesterday, and Christian has since been released as well.

As of the time of this writing, the officer has not been charged. He could still face charges after the results of an investigation are presented to the Orange County District Attorney’s office, police said.

The Anaheim police department and the LAPD are currently investigating the incident.
