The Killing Season: Third Week in April Harbors Mysterious Mass Horrific Tragedies...Will This Week Follow Suit?

“It seems that the third week in April has become our time of calamity.”  

Rather shockingly, those are the stark words of The Washington Post on April 19th, 2013 specifically referencing the 7-day period between April 14th through April 20th. A week, that history has come to show, harbors some of the worst catastrophes in US history. While it only covers 2% of the year, there are 18 different events that span this tragic time. The question is, however, will something “tragic” happen again during this 7 day period?

Here are the 18 events that have taken place between April 14th – April 20th: 

• April 15th, 1865 Abraham Lincoln was assassinated (shot the 14th, dies on the 15th) 
• April 18th, 1906, the San Francisco Earthquake, over 3,000 people died. 
• April 14th, 1911, Titanic sinking, 1,503 people died on April 15th. 
• April 20th, 1914, the Ludlow Massacre in Colorado, 39 people died. 
• April 15th, 1927, the great Mississippi Flood, 246 people killed. 
• April 14th, Black Sunday Dust Bowl, hundreds of thousands relocated.  
• April 16, 1947, Port of Texas City explosion, 581 died. 
• April 18th, 1955, Albert Einstein died. 
• April 17-19, 1961, The Bay of Pigs, 1,100 prisoners taken and 114 killed. 
• April 18th, 1983, US Embassy Bombing In Beirut, 63 people died, 17 American’s included. 
• April 19th, 1989, USS Iowa explosion, 47 seamen dead. 
• April 19, 1993, The Branch Davidian fire in Waco Texas, 76 people died in the fire set by the FBI. 
• April 19th, 1995, The Oklahoma City Bombing, 168 killed. 
• April 20th, 1999, The Columbine Massacre, 15 died in the school shooting. 
• April 16th, 2007, Virginia Tech Shooting, 33 people died. 
• April 20th, 2010, The BP oil spill, 11 people died and mass environmental damage was done. 
• April 15th, 2014, The Boston Marathon Bombing, 3 people died. 
• April 17th, 2013, The Texas Fertilizer plant explosion, 15 people died. 

Is it all just coincidence? I guess I’ll leave that for you to decide….
