Resurrecting John McShadegg?

Dissecting the disconnect

In this fawning interview by Arizona Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Glenn Hamer, former Arizona Congressman John Shadegg is talking like a Trump supporter, which should raise the antenna on anyone who pays attention to the state’s political scene.

The Chamber, representing business interests that prefer cheap labor to American workers, has never advocated for a secure border. Illegal labor profiteers have a bottom line agenda that isn’t in sync with conservative voters.

The dichotomy is stark, since President Trump campaigned and won on building a border wall.  Unlike John McCain who strolled the border and talked, with tongue firmly planted in his cheek, about completing “the danged fence” to get elected, Trump meant it. And it wasn’t a “danged fence.”  It’s a secure wall. Jeff Flake, pivoted into the U.S. Senate by McCain and then retiring Jon Kyl, played the same pre-election game. Voters so tired of his deception that they handed him his head in his hands with an 18% approval rating after a single senate term, causing him to withdraw from his reelection bid.

Deceitful McCain, it should be remembered, immediately after the votes were counted, embarked with his now-lame duck underling Jeff Flake, on constructing not a “fence” but rather the amnesty-bent Gang of Eight, colluding with Chuck Schumer, Dick Durbin, Robert Menendez, Michael Bennet —  all open border leftists and a couple of other squish Republicrats,  Lindsey Grahamnesty and Marco Rubio —  in a concerted effort to push amnesty for illegal invaders, yet again. Fortunately this attempt also failed.

While in Congress, Shadegg went on record with the New York Times, 3000 miles from his home congressional district, boorishly insulting Arizonans who desired border security as “xenophobic and intolerant.”

It’s generational. John Shadegg’s son, Stephen, worked for McCain and is now managing the senate campaign of the duplicitous Martha McSally, (revealing video) often referred to on this site as Sally McCain.

And Hamer? Prior to joining the Arizona Chamber of Commerce, the former Kyl aide was executive director of the Arizona Republican Party. Immediately after taking the Chamber’s top job, he opportunistically endorsed liberal Democrat Janet Napolitano, then running for governor against solid conservative, Len Munsil.
