You are exactly correct, Sir. They could have done that. They had his car, they had his address, they had his driver’s license. This was straight-up murder.

Are you suggesting the cops should have let him sleep it off BECAUSE he is black?? Why should they not be held to the same laws anyone else would be? The whole point here is he was being treated the same as any other drunk driver would be treated.
You don’t understand. The cops CAN’T just let him sleep it off in his car. They have no way to know he won’t just drive off after they leave. If you are operating a motor vehicle on a public way and you are drunk, you get arrested. Period. Cops DO NOT have discretion to just let you go. I am sure it happens. But it is a crime for them to do so. They had to arrest him. He WAS HAMMERED. And he didn’t even know where he was! It is a shame he was killed. And I think it was a bad shoot. But if he had just cooperated he would still be alive. As soon as he attacked the cops the best he could expect was prison…
He turned around and tried to fire the stolen taser at the cop. Sorry, but the cop did not commit murder. A drunk was taken off the road for good instead of two good cops dead.

You could hear the officer say to himself in a low voice “do i really want to deal with this guy right now.” His conscience got the better of him worrying that he might let him off to only do someone else some harm. I feel sorry for everyone involved but the blame has to go squarely on Rayshard Brooks. It is all his actions that led to the entire tragedy. Neither officer acted inappropriate. To not deal with him and let him go was wrong. To leave him in the car to sleep it of was wrong. To let him walk home was wrong. To let him escape with the taser was wrong. RIP Rayshard.
