The real truth is this. The Christian religion bloated the reputation of Jews because Jesus was an ethnic member of the ancient biblical Jews. So, as long as you are a Christian, it is not conceivable that you would defame Jewish people without endangering your own reputation based on your religious beliefs. What if some ingenious group of people in the 7th century decided to belong to Jewish group by converting to Judaism? And they started to claim they are Jews. And their real ethnic root was Khazars.
