Robert Stanley, the editor of UNICUS magazine, has passionately researched UFOs for over 30 years. In the latter half, he discussed his research and beliefs around the Anunnaki, beings he compared to gods or angels. Though they have a physical component, they’re capable of interdimensional travel beyond our realm, he continued (the Sumerian scholar Zecharia Sitchin described the Anunnaki more as extraterrestrials who came to Earth from another planet).

While Sitchin’s work brought the idea of the Anunnaki to a wider public, he noted that the book “The Shining Ones” (PDF) by Christian and Barbara Joy O’Brien was more influential in his thinking about elevated spiritual entities that have interacted with us. During an out-of-body experience (OBE) in Malibu in 1985, Stanley said he had an encounter with Anu, who could be considered the leader of the Anunnaki. He later came to believe that Anu may be the same as Jesus. After the OBE, Stanley began to have UFO encounters and contact experiences. A so-called war among the Anunnaki stemmed from a conflict between the more beneficent beings and the fallen ones, he detailed, adding that the wars and violence sometimes besetting humanity have been incited by these fallen angels.
