On 30 July 2024 this photo was taken poolside at the Hilton on San Pedro next to Castillo de San Marcos & Bridge of Lions. In 1964 it is where Mariam (Mary) Parkman Peabody was arrested at the then Ponce de Leon Motor Lodge Inn aka The Monson Motel as shown in the previous four photos above.

Oyster Bay Racquet Club Community, Fernandina Beach, FL was developed by Aubrey & Babette Williams who had contracted with us to perform a close out auction to be conducted at The Ritz Carlton ballroom on Amelia Island. As was the custom we held a dinner meeting the night before the auction with the developers to prepare for the event. Aubrey Williams had a change of mind and wanted to cancel the auction. There was the contract provision allowing a cancellation to occur provided the developer remitted the required $100,000 cancelation fee which he did. The one and only time I had an auction cancelled.

She was arrested at the Ponce de Leon Motor Lodge Inn that was torn down circa 2003 and is now the Hilton Inn 32 Avenida Menendez, St Augustine FL. The pool is original and a plaque marks the spot that Martin Luther King & she conducting their Civil Rights actions.
