Christmas time is for smiles and laughter, even when the best laid plans and decorations suddenly go awry.

While all these incidents stayed private until the images hit the Internet, things could take a more public turn as they did for a kitty in the UK.

One fire engine and crew were dispatched in the wee morning hours to help a cat who had gotten tangled in the Christmas tree lights, becoming trapped.

The fire crew was able to use hand tools to safely untangle the lights and release the cat.

The watch tweeted: “A crew from East Hull have released a cat that was entangled in Christmas tree lights. It was a purrfectly executed rescue.”
