Agree to Disagree

Why can’t conservatives, liberals, and non-political parties learn how to agree to disagree without all the bashing and name calling that goes on towards each other?  I am for free speech. I don’t want to curtail, stifle, or eliminate free speech for everyone no matter what their politics. When we do that, the liberals win because they want to curtail free speech by bringing back the Fairness Doctrine and control the Internet. I believe in debating issues with liberals because, eventually, some of them wise up and change their minds. I was a Kennedy liberal back in 1960. After I became educated and grew up, I transitioned from liberalism to conservatism and joined the Republican Party.

However, I was disappointed and disillusioned by George W. Bush (GWB) in the last year of his eight-year tenure and am now an un-Republican after 45 years of voting a straight Republican ticket. Instead, I am now a constitutional conservative and will vote only for constitutional conservatives. I despise Repugnants in Name Only (RINOs). At least for liberals and progressives, you know their agenda and where they are coming from. However, you don’t know what lurks in the minds of RINOs because they have each of their two feet firmly planted in each of the two political camps. I call them mug-wumps. They are more dangerous than just plain old liberals.

I certainly believe in agreeing to disagree. I have debated with some good liberals with heads on their shoulders. When we disagree and arrive at an impasse, we agree to disagree and depart as friends. Those are the liberals I can truly call friends. I just met one on another post who called me every name in the book but presented no facts to refute me. Those kinds of name calling and finger pointing liberals just waste my time. They never get smarter because they are not out to learn anything. Their minds are already made up. I love to learn new things. Debating in a gentlemanly fashion allows both parties to learn something instead of leaving a debate mutually angry. That’s my take on it, and I’m sticking with it.
