Curse of celebrity children: How stars’ kids struggle with limelight after deaths of Regina King & Michael Madsen sons
THE tragic deaths of Regina King and Michael Madsen’s sons this week have sparked an outpouring of grief from the stars and their families.
Both Ian Alexander Jr and Hudson Madsen are reported to have died by suicide at the age of just 26.

Hudson Madsen was found dead from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound on the island of Oahu.
He was the godson of legendary movie director Quentin Tarantino, according to IMDb.

His father Michael, 64, and Quentin, 58, are longtime collaborators who have worked together on classic films such as Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill Vol.1 and Kill Bill Vol. 2.
Hudson appears to have served in the US Army and posted pictures on his social media taken in Afghanistan.
The family said in a statement to The Blast: “We are heartbroken and overwhelmed with grief and pain at the loss of Hudson. His memory and light will be remembered by all who knew and loved him.”
‘TOUGH’ GROWING UP
A number of other children born to famous faces have suffered addiction, mental health battles, and brushes with the law.
Sean Stewart – son of rocker Rod – has spoken openly about his battles with addiction.
Speaking in 2004 he told the Evening Standard: “All celebrity children are f***** up. It’s called the Rock ‘n’ Roll Royalty Curse.
“We were able to get into any Hollywood club we wanted to from an early age, and a lot of people wanted to be our friends just because of who our parents are.
“Other people want to live this life, but they don’t know all of it. It’s tough growing up when your dad’s one of the world’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll stars.”
In October last year, Radar Online reported that Kelly Osbourne had “checked into rehab” after she admitted to having relapsed in alcohol addiction following four years of sobriety.
ALCOHOL BATTLE
The famous star, who is the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, is seeking treatment in an Austin, Texas facility according to the outlet.
The TV star’s decision came months after she admitted she relapsed in a confessional on her Instagram Stories.
At the time she wrote: “This is a little hard for me to talk about but I’ve always promised you I will be honest with you about where I’m at and what’s going on on my road to recovery.
“I relapsed, not proud of it but I’m back on track and I will be doing a podcast this week where I tell everybody about what’s going on and what happened.”
She added she was taking things “one day at a time” and said she wanted to tell fans the “truth” because she “never wants to lie” to them.
“I’M SOBER TODAY”
Kelly told fans: “I just want to let you know that I’m sober today and I’m going to be sober tomorrow.
“But I’ve truly learned that it is just one day at a time and I wanted to tell you guys the truth cause I never ever want to lie to you.
“Thank you so much for your support and love and you’ll be hearing from me soon.”
OPENING UP
Aside from alcohol, Kelly previously admitted she would pass out every night from taking amphetamines, tranquilizers, and marijuana.
During her relapse, the 36-year-old also admitted she drank three bottles of champagne and 24 cans of beer a day.
Kelly has been quite open with her struggles, even touching on them during a previous interview with Red Table Talk, admitting she also abused heroin.
The star Kelly shared she was just 13 when she was given Vicodin, adding that “it went very quickly from Vicodin to Percocet to heroin eventually because it was cheaper.”
Kelly has also opened up about undergoing “gastric sleeve” weight loss surgery to help her drop 85 pounds, and admitted to being “proud” of the decision.
In 2007 Lionel Richie’s daughter Nicole pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs.
She was sentenced to four days in jail following a 2003 DUI conviction.
The December 11 stop came six weeks after it was revealed she had checked herself into a treatment facility to address weight-loss issues.
