% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

The cold winter days are over, and you are looking forward to spending your days outdoors. The summer days can get hot, and you need to find a way to cool off.

Since you cannot stay indoors near the air conditioner all the time, you need to get creative about avoiding the scorching heat.

We are happy to tell you that there are many cool, but really weird ways of cooling your body. Read on below for amazing tips.

Ways to Cool off this Summer

Drinking water and staying in the shade are some of the obvious ways to keep cool. However, you can only drink so much water. You also need to be able to move around, and you can’t carry the shade with you. We have you covered; try some of our tips below.

1. Buy an Ice Vest

Manufacturers are getting creative with the types of clothing they are bringing into the market. While you don’t want to freeze yourself to death, an ice vest is a creative way to keep cool. The vests have panels with ice sheets. Wear them over your clothing for an efficient way of staying cool in the summer.

Another great idea is to freeze your sheets before bedtime. Alternatively, freeze your pillowcase, but you’ll not enjoy the cooling effect as much as you would with the sheets. The disadvantage is that you may have to deal with making your bed right before you go to sleep every night.

The advantage is you’ll enjoy a cool night with this simple DIY tip.

2. Cold Water Bottle

Think of a hot water bottle, but instead fill it with ice cold water. Put in a few ice cubes then take the bottle to bed with you. The summer heat will have nothing on you as you’ll be keep cool throughout the night.

You will enjoy this weird method if you live on the higher floors because they retain the most heat. If you don’t have a hot water bottle, now’s the time to recycle. Take some plastic bottles and wrap them in a towel; there you have it, your DIY cooling system.

And ice bath for your feet will serve the same function as a cold water bottle. The method is especially useful when your body temperature is very high. The sudden drop in temperature will make you feel comfortable for a long time afterwards.

3. Stay in the Lower Parts of the House

You may have some of the best air conditioning systems from the National Air Warehouse. But it also helps to save on energy bills. You have the option of getting an underground home, which will not get hot because the sunlight cannot access it.

Earth homes provide you with an inexpensive way of how to cool down a room without an air conditioning system. They are a great option, but they may not be available for everyone. If an underground dwelling is not an option, the basement can provide an alternative.

A basement gets a bit chilly because most do not let in sunlight. Consider moving down there during summer. If you have a large family, you can set it up to be the place where you enjoy family time. It’ll save you the cost of everyone running the AC in their room.

Load up your food with jalapeno, hot pepper, chili powder or any other spicy food for that extra kick.Keep a glass of yoghurt nearby in case it gets too hot for your tongue. If you don’t do well with very spicy food, warm or hot drinks will achieve the same effect.

It may sound crazy to take a hot cup of tea during summer, but think of the science behind it, and drink plenty of hot tea.

5. Learn Breathing Techniques

Yoga will provide you with a great way of how to cool down during the hot summer days. When you practice the correct breathing techniques, your body will regulate its temperature naturally. Try and breathe into your mouth and exhale through the nose repeatedly.

One tip is to curl your tongue. You may look a little bit weird doing it, but the result will be worth the stares you may occasionally get.

6. Carry a Spritz Bottle

Having a spritz bottle may not be a favorite for ladies because of their elaborate hair do’s. However, it’s a great way to cool down. Make some mint tea or peppermint, let it cool in the fridge, then put it into a spray bottle.
