Rampage Shooter Suspect Jacob Tyler Roberts, New Details Of Mall Attack, Photos

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

Eerie similarities to the Aurora Colorado shooting as gunman opens fire in shopping mall inear Portland, Oregon.

A gunman opened fire with an assault rifle at Macy’s in the Clackamas Town Center shopping mall near Portland, Oregon.  Two people were killed before the gunman was “neutralized” said a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department.   One other person was wounded.  More than 100 officers are on the scene.  The shopping center is being evacuated.  Police are searching to confirm there is no second shooter.  Witness says the masked gunman was carrying a semi-automatic rifle and was wearing body armor.

A witness said the gunman ran through the mall shouting “I am the shooter, I am the shooter.”  According to the Oregonian up to 60 shots were fired.

Any witnesses to the Town Center incident urged to contact the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office:

Macy’s workers told AP the shooter was short, with dark hair, dressed in camouflage. with body armor, rifle and white mask.

We can now share the name of the suspect in this case: JACOB TYLER ROBERTS, born March 6, 1990.

A photo of the suspect is at left.

Based on evidence gathered thus far, it appears the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Additional information about Mr. Roberts:

• During this attack, the suspect was armed with an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle.
• The rifle was stolen yesterday from a person known to the suspect.
• At the time of the attack, Roberts was wearing a load-bearing vest — NOT a bulletproof vest, as has been reported.
• He was also wearing a hockey-style face mask.
• We have not yet established how many shots Mr. Roberts fired during the attack, although we believe he was carrying a large amount of ammunition.

After the Sheriff’s Office identified Jacob Roberts as the suspect in this case, deputies executed search warrants on his home — located at 7324 SE 84th Avenue in Portland, Oregon — and on his vehicle, a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta found in the Clackamas Town Center parking lot. Results of these search warrants are not being revealed at this writing.

At this writing, investigators have not determined a motive — but it appears that there was no prior relationship between the suspect and his victims.

At 3:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, we received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting an active shooter at Clackamas Town Center.

Our first unit arrived on-scene 1 minute later, at 3:30 p.m.

Once on scene, deputies initiated an “active shooter protocol” – a technique developed to deal with precisely this type of threat. In this protocol, rather than waiting for a SWAT team to deploy, individual officers are trained to form up in teams as they arrive and move immediately to engage the threat. This involves officers from different agencies being thrown together on short notice. Law-enforcement personnel on-scene executed this protocol to the highest standard.

Personnel were well-prepared for this incident because they had practiced active-shooter techniques at Clackamas Town Center earlier this year.

At this writing, investigators believe the suspect moved through the mall in the following manner:

Prior to beginning his attack, the suspect parked his vehicle in the mall’s south lot, near Macy’s. He then moved north on foot through Macy’s towards the food court. He then opened fire, fatally wounding two victims. Crime Scene Investigators also found indications of additional bullet strikes throughout the food court area.

Next, the suspect is believed to have moved east — past the Macy’s Home Store and into a service stairwell.

Moving down onto the lower floor of the mall, he continued east towards JC Penney’s, where he was found dead by responding law-enforcement personnel — 22 minutes after the first 911 call.

At some point during this attack, the suspect wounded his third victim, Kristina Shevchenko, a juvenile. Shevchenko managed to exit the mall near REI, where law-enforcement personnel contacted her and began rendering medical assistance.

We can now release the names of the two individuals killed in this attack. They are:

  • Cindy Ann Yuille, age 54, a resident of northeast Portland and
  • Steven Mathew Forsyth, age 45, of West Linn

The third victim – Kristina Shevchenko, a juvenile — survived the attack and is now being treated for her injuries at OHSU’s trauma center. She is listed in serious condition at this writing.

“Steven Mathew Forsyth was a loving husband, father of two children, son, brother, uncle, youth sports coach and friend to the many people who had the privilege to meet him.

“Steve was one of the most passionate people with a true entrepreneurial spirit that drove him to start his business, Coastoms. He had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He had vision and a belief in others that brought great joy and value to many lives.

“He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

The family asks that the media respect their desire for privacy as they grieve their loss. They will not be granting any interviews.”

A photo of Steven Forsyth is at left.

“Cindy was everybody’s friend.  She was a wonderful person who was very caring and put others first.

“The family has advised us they want time and space to grieve their loss and will not be giving interviews at this time.

“The family will make a statement at an unspecified later date through the Sheriff’s Office.”

A photo of Cindy Ann Yuille is at left.

As of 5:30 p.m., Pacific Time, December 11th,  the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is able to confirm that the suspect in the active shooter incident at Clackamas Town Center is deceased. At this point in the investigation, it appears that the suspect acted alone inside the mall.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is also able to confirm that two victims are deceased, and a third has been injured and was transported to a local trauma center where they are currently undergoing medical treatment.

Currently, members of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and other local, state and federal law enforcement partners are conducting a thorough search of the mall. Witnesses to this incident are being interviewed at a command post established on mall property.

Once they have given their statement, witnesses are being allowed to depart the mall in their own vehicles or via public transportation. Witnesses in need of rides are being transported to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office headquarters, located at 9101 SE Sunnybrook Blvd. in Clackamas, to be picked up by friends or family.

WITNESSES SOUGHT: Any witnesses at or near the mall who have not been contacted by law enforcement are requested to report to the command post, located at the northeast corner of the mall property near the light rail parking garage. Witnesses who are no longer in the vicinity are requested to contact Clackamas County non-emergency dispatch at 503-655-8211.

The mall will remain closed this evening. Additional details regarding this ongoing investigation will be released as appropriate. For official information, follow us on Twitter at @ClackCoSheriff. We will also use the Twitter hashtag #ClackamasShooting

Blatant inside job. This guy wears a mask then kills himself? Why, what’s the point to wearing a mask? And why the bullet resistant vest if you plan to kill yourself. It was a major fail for anyone with two brain cells, the guy killed is a patsy. Our infiltrated government will do anything and to go after the guns and or to control people by fear. And the tyranny is never going to stop without force and that’s a fact. You can protest and talk and talk until you’re blue in the face has achieved nothing so far.

      • Joseph

@James, are you trying to rationalize this act. The guy was wacked. Insane, suicidal people can make no sense to a sane person. If indeed his goal is to kill or mame people before he dies, body armor will maybe extend your ability to do just that. One thing is for sure he planed this day right to blowing his head off.

those were my very fhoughts also

        > This guy wears a mask then kills himself? Why, what’s the point to wearing a mask?

People who wears masks are automatically immune from suicidal compulsions? Wow. That’s amazing. Have you contacted the mental health community? The suicide hotline will want this info right away.

        > And why the bullet resistant vest if you plan to kill yourself.

Learn to read. It wasn’t a bullet resistant vest. It was a load bearing vest. For carrying ammo. That’s all.

        > It was a major fail for anyone with two brain cells, the guy killed is a patsy.

If you have direct knowledge of this crime, you are obligated to contact the detectives. If you are just blowing smoke out your arse, which seems far more likely, please go find the aforementioned two brain cells, activate them, and kindly STFU.

The part about the mask is indeed strange.

I agree with James Smith, Also: Militarized cops and federal troops show up, I smell a Rat.

      • mutant_truth

        > Militarized cops

It was over long before SWAT showed up. Patrol officers were on the scene first. As far as SWAT moving in … get a clue. That’s their job.

        > and federal troops show up, I smell a Rat.

What you may smell is your overworked brain cell overheating. “Federal troops” were not there. Stop making up lies and calling them the truth. Federal law enforcement _was_ on the scene (eventually). That’s not a surprise, and it’s not unusual … it’s their job. I assume you have one, too, and no one accuses you of being part of a conspiracy when you show up and do it.

    • somethgblue

I gotta agree with James on this one,

      1. Deputies respond within one minute of 911 call, don’t believe in coincidence.

      2. Shooter ‘kills himself’ despite load bearing vest and mask.

      3. Why the protection and mask if you’re going to kill yourself?

      4. Only witness with ability to provide motive dead!

      5. Both shooters (patsies) in JFK shooting able to provide motive dead.

These ‘events’ are sleeper’s activated to provide motive for gun restrictions or as the case in AZ to eliminate Judges or other’s poised to prevent legislation from becoming law. Time to wake up and smell the pattern, because this won’t stop.

The no motive crazed gunman scenario works because, the gunman is either dead or has no memory of the event such as the case in Colorado.

Remember disinformation works by confusing the public and providing just enough of the truth to make the ‘event seem plausible’, but by leaving no witnesses able to counter the story we then have only The Powers That Be to tell us what to believe.

      • airspoon

Except in the case of Colorado, there were many witnesses whose story doesn’t jive with the official one-shooter story. Who let the Colorado shooter into the theater from the back door? We all know that the door has to be opened from the inside. Not to mention the plethora of witnesses who said that there were multiple suspects/ shooters. I’m not sure about this particular shooter, but I’m convinced that the Aurora shooting wasn’t what we are being lead to believe it was. It is clear that those in control of our government want to take our guns and it is my belief that they will stop at nothing to make that happen.

    • Goldbug36

Just as in Aurora, I think this guy will turn out to be another drugged “mind control” subject, who “coincidentally” carried a “semi-automatic assault weapon,” which is “coincidentally” at the top of the gun grabbers’ ban list. He ran through the mall shouting, “I am the shooter?” They say it “appears” the suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound? Don’t they know? Over 100 local city, county sheriffs, state and federal law enforcement officers were incredibly “johnny on the spot” to the scene, and they had “coincidentally” practiced similar active shooter exercises in that same mall. A lot of “coincidence,” IMO.

      • Polis

I have heard that his gun jammed – and that he shot himself. ???

        • Polis

With all the people in the mall, he only shoots 2? One way that it makes sence is he was programmed – realized what he was doing and ended it.

        • mutant_truth

It jammed, he cleared the jam, he left the food court, he shot himself. It was a stolen weapon (from a “friend”). He probably wasn’t familiar with its operation. This isn’t complicated. It’s sad. The sadness is compounded by morons who insist on seeing a conspiracy behind every deranged act.

    • Jet X

      I smell another false flag.

    • mutant_truth

You whack jobs going off about false flags and conspiracies are hilarious and sad.

      > 1. Deputies respond within one minute of 911 call, don’t believe in coincidence.

You don’t know the area. I do. The _first_ police were there in a minute because this part of Portland has a consistently reliable police presence. It’s near a major light rail station and has a fairly predictable collection of the usual youth-related kerfuffles.

      > 2. Shooter ‘kills himself’ despite load bearing vest and mask.
      > 3. Why the protection and mask if you’re going to kill yourself?

You obviously don’t know what “load beraing” means. Not armor of any sort. It was designed to help him carry ammo. Has nothing to do with his suicidal tendencies. The mask, likewise, has nothing to do with whether he planned to commit suicide or not. “Why did he shoot himself? He was wearing deodorant, wasn’t he? Must be HAARP.” You can’t just string together a bunch of unrelated comments to make your point. Even if he HAD been wearing armor, that could just mean he didn’t want someone else to kill him … that he wanted to end it when he was ready to end it.

He starting shooting. THe gun jammed. He cleared the jam. Most people were had fled by that point. He walked to a hall and shot himself. It’s not that hard to explain.

      > 4. Only witness with ability to provide motive dead!

He didn’t know the two people he shot. They wouldn’t be able to explain his motives any more than you or I. His family and friends are much more likely to provide this insight, and they are not dead.

It seems you have only passing familiarity with reality. Why don’t you let the adults figure this one out while you sit by and watch.

    • Awakenow2

Notice the time the sheriff responds. 3:30 Hmmmm???? This has illuminati MK all over it. Just pushing the gun control agenda.
