Proud Texans Embrace Martial Law

Citizens of the great state of Texas have long considered themselves unique in terms of detecting and reacting to a tyrannical government’s encroachment on civil liberties and Constitutional rights and freedoms. While much of the nation—primarily “blue“ states—has buckled to political correctness and leftwing ideology, Texas has fought to remain “red” and conservative, with a large swath of its population swearing Texas would forever remain a bastion of independence. The state’s residents have likened themselves to the Framers of the Constitution and have in cacophonous unity chanted they would resist totalitarianism with their lives, if necessary.

But that was all windless bluster, and Texans, it turns out, were no different than their liberal counterparts–Californians and Washingtonians. As the “invisible enemy” trekked across the nation and government-enforced lockdowns became part of everyday life, not a single Texan raised his rifle, let alone his voice, to condemn the treasonous actions taken in Austin, and at city and county levels. Texans did not decry the injustice, the oppression; instead, they embraced subjugation. They willingly followed unlawful orders that were not in fact laws. They dropped their guns. They griped on Twitter. They staged a few peaceful protests. They became the very thing they once claimed to abhor: Happy government check collectors.

“I love my government stimulus check. Now I got me $1200,” said Earle Otis, a third-generation rancher in Lubbock who also fancies himself a patriot. “This here virus put me out of work. I’m a patriot, a freedom fighter, but me and my wife, we gots to eat. I thank President Trump and Dr. Fauci for my government check. I hope I get another.”

Elsewhere in the state, John Demoral was furloughed from his job after Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins issued a decree that firearms distributors were not essential businesses and must remain closed during the pandemic. Mr. Demoral, a minimum wage employee of Dartin’ Dan’s Guns ‘n’ More, was facing eviction and, worse, the end of his marriage. His wife of thirteen years had threatened to leave him, because the coronavirus had left them destitute.

“She was ‘bout to walk out on me, but then the check came, with President Trump’s name on it. And we put food on the table and got medicine. I really was never fond of big government, but now I love it ‘cause we’re all getting’ free checks and can eat and buy what we want. If I keep getting these here free checks, I don’t want to go back to work, and many people I know feel the same,” said Mr. Demerol of his situation.

In closing, Texans have gone belly up, and many are packing feathers where there spine is supposed to be.
