I’m amazed at the way our medical fascists are essentially using the same script today as they did during the Swine Flu. It’s almost the exact same with the exception of masks. In Matthew 24, Jesus explains to His disciples the events and situations that will occur leading up to and at the end of the age. The age here is referring to the age in which Jesus physically walked this earth and taking us to that point in time when He will physically return to take charge of this planet.

For those who believe Jesus will return not physically, but in a more spiritual sense, I would direct them to Acts 1:9-11.

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, ‘Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.’

To me, it couldn’t be more obvious that the angels who spoke to the disciples staring up into the space where Jesus had just ascended, were pointing out to them that “will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” The point being that Jesus had just physically gone up into the heavens and out of their sight into a cloud where they could no longer see Him, will return in the same way – physically.

To further drive the point home, Jesus points out later in the Olivet Discourse of Matthew 24:29-31 the following:

Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

Here, Jesus notes that the entire earth will “mourn” because “they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds...” Commenting on this, the apostle John in Revelation 1:7 notes pretty much the same thing.

Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.

If these are not meant to be taken literally, I’m not sure what should be taken literally then. We know Jesus ascended physically and in the sight of some of the disciples. Jesus Himself plainly states that when He returns, He will do so physically so that the entire earth will see it and mourn. John reiterates this same message.

In spite of this, there are groups who believe that Jesus returned “spiritually” a while ago and we are now in the “Millennial Kingdom,” etc. If this is the Millennium as described by many prophets as well as the apostle John, it’s sorely disappointing. In my view, Jesus’ return to this earth has to be done in a very physical, public way. It will literally grab the attention of the entire world.

Matthew 24:7 also states plainly, “For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” I’ve never seen lightning flash “secretly,” have you? When lightning strikes, much or all of the sky is temporarily lit up. I recall thunderstorms in New York state while living there as a child. They were frightening to me for their intensity. It was as though God momentarily hit a switch and the otherwise dark sky was made to look like daylight. There is nothing secret or hidden about lightning. It lights up the sky and everyone in that area sees it very clearly.

When Jesus returns, the entire earth will notice, whether it is through the use of satellite images, television, or simply with the naked eye, no one will say, “What just happened?” because everyone will know.

What is interesting though is the information Jesus provides leading up to that point of His physical return and it gives us clues as to where society is in God’s scheme of things related to eschatology (the study of end times or last things).

If we go back to the early portion of Matthew 24, our Lord provides great insight into the events and situations of this earth leading up to His physical return. Are we there yet? Let’s take a look. In Matthew 24:4-5, Jesus points out that as things move toward the culmination of this age, there will be a proliferation of false Christs. I’m always amazed at the people who have either come to believe they are Jesus or they’re simply using it to enrich themselves. The list is too long to name all those who have had a God or Messiah complex in modern times, but they’ve existed and still exist. In fact, there are those within the word of faith movement who routinely teach that we are all gods and should act like it. We have the capacity to speak things into existence, etc. Then there are those who firmly believe (or want us to believe), that they are Christ and we should follow them. It wouldn’t be too long after doing so that we would be expected to worship them as well. The false Christs is one of the signs Jesus provides that we should take note of and these false Christs will obviously deceive many people (v 5).

Jesus then moves onto wars and rumors of wars (v 6). This is referencing world wars, when nation shall rise against nation. The world has experienced two world wars and it appears that we are moving toward a third. Jesus says, don’t be troubled because it’s not yet the end.

Jesus further states that nature itself will go awry, with numerous natural disasters occurring: “…famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.” We’ve been experiencing that for decades and it’s not letting up. Of course, the Left wants us to believe this is all due to “climate change,” but in reality, it has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the “beginning of sorrows.”

Starting in verse 9, Jesus points out that persecution will also increase, “…they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” Here’s where it gets a bit interesting. Because of the increase of persecution, “…many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many (vv 10-11). So previously, people claiming to be Jesus will deceive many. In this latest instance, false prophets will deceive many.

Folks, never before in modern times have we had so many false prophets (including false apostles), who claim they all speak for God. I’ve talked in great depth about the New Apostolic Movement (NAR) and even wrote a book about the amount of deception that has occurred and is occurring. Too many today do not want sound biblical teaching. They want to hear what God says now so they gather around them teachers who fill their heads with nonsense but it sounds so good and strikes a chord with their emotions.

Then Jesus makes a very important statement that is being fulfilled now. “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (v 12). What does that mean? Clearly, our Lord is referring to the many people whose announced love of and for God will seriously dim. The reason? Because of lawlessness, people will become more directed to their own needs and not the needs of others. They will become fearful and lose sight of godly things.

People will stop going to church. They will stop giving to church. They will start acting and walking more like those in the world than those whose citizenship is in heaven. They will tend to forget all about God, having becoming thoroughly preoccupied with what is going on in the world. Just a quick look around the world informs us that lawlessness is alive and well. From AntiFa, to BLM, to professing Christians who are involved in same sex marriages and/or have changed genders and essentially live as the world lives.

I was cruising around Facebook the other day and looked up people I knew because they were in the same grade as I was in the same school years ago. I knew those people. Some were friends. Today, many have gone through four or five marriages. Some have committed suicide. Others are in same sex marriages and at least one person I knew, who lived only a few doors down from me, went from being a “he” to a “she.” Many are far-left advocates endorsing people like AOC.

Some of them, interestingly enough, are or were pastors of churches and now their “religion” is of an entirely impersonal god, who offers no hope, no truth, and no reality. They’re drawn to that because they hate the truth. It’s so sad to see what has happened with so many people.

The love of (the) many will grow cold. This is where we are today with so many who used to claim to love the Lord, now love themselves far more. Because of it, they have surrounded themselves with people and ideas that provide them with an adoring fan-base of people who accept them for who they think they are and have become quite vocal about their differences and that they should be accepted whether anyone likes it or not. I noticed the one person I knew as a kid who has become a she, still looks like a man, though he now has breasts along with a five o’clock shadow. On that person’s timeline are message after message of how much people love him/her. Who would dare question what they have done to themselves? Who would dare invite that person to take a good, hard look in the mirror of the Book of Life?

The tragedy of today is that society is very much like the days of Noah and Lot. Things were going on normally then with people being married, going through their daily lives, and taking care of business. Along with that, the increase of lawlessness existed in both societies as well. We have the same today, though there has been a disruption due to CV-19. Yet, people clamor for that normalcy they had prior to CV-19. People are creatures of habit. We want to do what we’ve always done. We don’t like change and disruption.

The tragedy of Jesus’ words in Matthew 24 are stark and real. No one expected the flood during Noah’s day, especially considering that God watered the earth with a mist daily. What was rain?! No one expected God to destroy Sodom or Gomorrah with fire and brimstone due to their lawlessness and wickedness. It wasn’t just homosexuality and homosexual rape. That existed because that society had gone downhill for some time and that was the natural devolving as Paul tells us in Romans 1.

Just the same way and because of the same trajectory, today’s society has grown more wicked with violence and iniquity that is fast becoming too abhorrent for God to continue to ignore. Hence, the need for the coming Tribulation period. Even so, in spite of the terrible times of the Tribulation made horrible because of the 21 judgments of God (Revelation 6-19), people will still be shocked when they see Jesus coming to this earth through the clouds!

In a day of increasing trials and persecution, when evil appears to be growing immeasurably and without checks, this world is clearly moving toward the time that Jesus spoke of, namely the Tribulation period. It will be a time of cleansing through judgment, a time when believers during that period will be sorely tested, when the love of (the) many (or majority) will grow cold.
