Skip Sizes and Their Jobs

2 Yard Skips – otherwise known as the mini skip, the 2 yard skip is the smallest available. To give you a rough idea, our 2 yard skip can hold approximately 25 bin bags of rubbish making it ideal for small garden waste and small quantities of household rubbish. While it may be small, the 2 yard skip is certainly mighty and ideal for tackling those small jobs around the home.

3 Yard Skip – although just a small step up on the scale, the 3 yard skip offers you a decent amount of extra room, taking on average around 30 bin bags of waste. Also known as a mini skip, the 3 yard skip is ideal for those once again with small amounts of household rubbish and garden waste.

4 Yard Skip – the 4 yard skip is a slight step up now, so much so it has a new nickname, known as the midi skip. The midi skip is the perfect solution for homeowners who might be doing some more in-depth work such as kitchen remodels or bathroom renovations. The 4 yard midi skip can hold around 40 bin bags worth of rubbish making it ideal for those needing some serious rubbish disposal.

5 Yard Skip – yet again, described at the midi skip, the 5 yard skip tends to pack more of a punch. So much so in fact that it’s often favoured by tradesmen more than domestic. For the tradesmen on smaller jobs, such as kitchen AND bathroom remodels, the 5 yard skip is ideal. To give you an idea of just what it’s capable of, the 5 yard skip can hold around 50 bin bags of waste. That’s a decent step up.

Skip Sizes Ideal for Trade and Large Domestic Jobs

6 Yard Skip – as we hit the 6 yard skip, you’re beginning to move more into the trade area. The 6 yard skip is a popular one, known as a small skip. It can hold roughly 65 bags of waste and although favoured by tradesmen, has been known to provide the perfect solution for domestic clients carrying out bigger renovations at home than normal.

7 Yard Skip – although still considered a small skip, the 7 yard skip offers the ability to hold around 70 bin bags worth of waste making it an awesome small builders skip. It is, as you no doubt guessed, ideal for carrying out medium sized jobs and once again, although favoured by the trade industry, has been hired for domestic purposes. Got an internal wall being taken out, a kitchen/diner being entirely renovated along with the bathroom? Then the 7 yard skip would be ideal.  

8 Yard Skip – the 8 yard skip is where it officially gets ‘large’. Known as a large skip, the 8 yard skip can often be found on medium to large level jobs, whether that’s at a domestic premises where extensions may be carried out or construction sites for commercial use. The 8 yard skip has the capacity to hold around 75 bin bags and makes the perfect builder solution.

10 Yard Skip – once again labeled a ‘large skip’, the 10 yard skip offers you that extra step up. Providing the holding capacity of around 100 bin bags of waste, this large skip will often be seen on construction sites. This skip is often wasted with domestic clients as they fail to reach its full capacity.

12 Yard Skip – last but not least we have the 12 yard skip, otherwise known as the maxi skip. This is our largest skip available and can hold a whopping 120 bin bags on average of waste. Companies carrying out large clearances usually hire this. Builders and tradesmen may also hire this for the duration of a small extension etc.
