I’m calling this series, “news from Lake soon be gone” because, here at the ranch we have a little pond which in the wintertime becomes a little lake and in the summertime it dries up and disappears. Also, as a Mac Senior with the emphasis on the senior I feel when I leave this planet I will be gone. True for us all and something to keep in mind.

On another front, the front yard I saw a large flock of quail in the yard today. Right in front of the chicken coup. Birds of a feather were together and didn’t pay any attention to one another. Besides the quails I’ve often see wild turkeys. 30 sometimes 40 in a flock. It’s not uncommon to see ducks and geese stopping over as they go here or there.

We are blessed or cursed with underground geysers just bubbling through our soil in our horse corral. This creates a mud environment for horses and sheep and me.

I do not like mud. It reminds me of my Detroit Michigan childhood. The difference between slush and mud is cars and truck and buses. It is brown and gray and your boots sink in it.

Sometimes it’s hard to walk in it.

So bottom line I’d rather lake soon be gone, be gone.
